It would be cool if TP shows up to San Antonio to see a playoff game for moral support.

yes it would but some haters on ST wouldn't see it that way and make some crude checking out player's wives bs comment.

I heard the Spurs are planning a special ceremony for him next season to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Babe being released:

He lives in SA. I'm sure him and Timmy may hang out. They should go together. Maybe the big 3 will show up for the playoff games?

    Numbers don't lie, IMO.
Why was he shut down at the end of the year? Injury?

His impact was non existent. We have to be real, he's done for about 3 years now. Keep getting them checks though.

30-26 is an interesting way to suck, IMO. One would think a better way to suck would to be on the 9-17 side, IMO.

I didn't check and i don't need to tbh but i'm pretty sure he mostly played against bottom feeders of the east and was a bench warmer in the difficult games and that helps this narrative. How many inactive or zero minutes played he had and in what games? Honest question

As it turns out, it sounds like you do need to check, tbh.

So you don't know any facts, and you're not interested in any facts? You just "know".

    Nice.

Real talk, though, Tony Parker had a really good season. (Using VORP against him is dumb because it penalizes him for a lack of blocked shots, steals and offensive rebounds as if those counting stats have anything to do with a player like TP. )

Parker scored at his best rate since the 2014 championship season. Totaled assists at his best rate since 2013. Best shooting year of his career from 10-to-16 feet. His plus/minus stats were nearly identical to Kemba Walker. In fact, plus/minus says TP was the best defender on the Hornets. He helped a nearly identical Hornets team win more games than the previous season.

Considering he's a 36-year-old point guard who relies on speed, it's amazing he's still able to play at this level. Every other comparable point guard in NBA history had long fallen off by his age. Add in the ruptured quad (that was a career-ending injury for literally every other NBA player who suffered the injury) and Parker's season was even more impressive. Anyone who says differently is either trolling or a bitter Manu-only fan.

With Parker on the court, the Hornets had a defensive rating of 106.4 -- the best mark of any player on the team.

With Parker off the court, the Hornets had a defensive rating of 112 -- the worst mark of any player on the team.

If all this was the case, why was he sitting? Why not play him even spot minutes? It's very odd just because it is Borrego as the coach.
And I figured that with them still losing without Parker playing, he might of figured to go ahead and play him and see what happens. I mean you signed him, you might as well use him. They did go on a win streak there at the end but too little too late.

Truthfully, it was just a matter of the Hornets appearing to be eliminated and Borrego going with a youth movement. Devonte Graham replaced Parker in the rotation and some other vets got their minutes slashed (over the same time frame Parker was replaced, Batum had his playing time slashed to 22 minutes per game [from up over 30 MPG] and MKG down to 13 MPG). Then Blake Griffin hurt his knee, the Pistons started losing and the Hornets almost stumbled into the playoffs. Kemba Walker averaged 30 points during that stretch and helped the Hornets to some fluke-ish wins.

Oh, and Devonte Graham was terrible in Parker's place: 5.4 points and 3.8 assists in 18.3 minutes per game on 29.7% shooting from the field and 21.1% shooting from three-point range.

I know there are some in here who have fun pushing their agenda but the truths are: Parker had a damn good season, the Hornets had a winning record when TP played but couldn't win without him, Borrego went with a youth movement when the season appeared to be over, Blake Griffin injury + Kemba catching fire + fluke wins almost got the Hornets into the playoffs despite Parker's replacement being one of the worst rotation players in the NBA.

It is fascinating how similar stats can vary so greatly on nba.com vs basketballreference.com.

On basketball-reference, they scrape the play-by-play to generate some of their stats, so their numbers (mostly the possession numbers) can differ. NBA.com is the most accurate these days, tbh.
