2 cultures like em
1. Far East Asian because of anime
2. Americans cause many look at the World/History thru a simplistic good guys and bad things prism
Wow! That 22 movie payoff is ing epic.
Spoiler
Not gonna lie. I said ing it and joined in at Snap 3.0, tbh.
You have it backwards. The modern superhero movie actually tries to give its villains "depth," with many villains having motives with philosophical underpinnings (i.e. Thanos's utilitarianism). Ironically, this makes Superhero movies kind of laughable for me. I think it's dramatically incongruent to watch an oversized human eggplant who wears a jeweled gauntlet and sits on a floating throne wax philosophical about his motives and make emotional sacrifices. I don't know much about the lore, but Thanos's comic book motivation was actually more interesting vs. his film motivation. In the comics, he wanted to kill a load of people to impress Lady Death (the grim reaper). Nothing more than that. He was simply a psychopath. In the films, he's basically a radical environmentalist thinking of the "greater good."
Some stories actually work better when they don't overshoot character complexity. For men in tights movies, I would actually prefer a simplistic good vs. evil narrative.
You're also doing you're European>American thing again.these movies also win the box office in Europe. Example:

all movies are fake like wrestling. these aren't an exception
I was not prepared. Endgame was great and a great way to end an 11 year saga.
Just got back from the theater; pretty damn good but am really going to have to see it at least 2 more times before I am able to really get a feel for it, but would give it 4.5/5 right now.
Google Thanos and click on the gauntlet
pretty cool
These have more in common with wrestling than any other films. Over the top characters in tights doing battle. They also have a soap opera type structure much like wrestling. Not a bad thing. There's nothing wrong with wrestling.
Storylines that build like a soap opera, which gets fans invested. Cutting edge special effects. Fear-of-missing-out/bandwagoning phenomenon. I usually don't get around to watching these movies until like 2 years later, but I understand their appeal. My issue is when nerds and fanboys vote this pulp up on the likes of Imdb or when credulous critics give them effusive praise. None of these films deserve mention along the greatest films of all-time (Endgame and Dark Knight 4th and 5th greatest movies of all-time on imdb).
But a movie about a guy getting raped in prison and digging a tunnel out of said prison with a spoon does? It's all fake m8. Endgame and Dark Knight are just a lot more entertaining, that's all.
I think Shawshank is one of the most overrated movies of all-time. That said, I'm not sure why entertaining should automatically translate to "good." There's other (more) worthy artistic aspects to indulge in aside from fun. I don't speak with elitism. I like wrestling, but I wouldn't put it on the same artistic level as the Wire, even though wrestling is more fun.
Of course entertainment factor is not everything. But these movies also had everything else you'd want to see from compelling story telling to good acting. I don't know why it's that shocking to see them near the top of Imdb list. Speaking of the list, I really need to see Godfather I & II one of these days.
I'll clarify that I don't like elitists, but I don't like poptimism, either. I think it is shocking to see these movies rated as the 4th and 5th best films ever made when directors like Kurosawa, Ozu, Kubrick, Bergman, Welles, Fellini, Bresson, Leone, etc, etc, exist. The Marvel films are pretty much by the numbers storytelling and direction.
Dont really watch movies anymore. I thought about going for this one though but meh
Really more of a casual netflix guy.
Its embarassing to say that last tv show I watched is Stranger things and that was advertised for kids![]()
Already at 664 million worldwide...damn![]()
try 1.2 billion with sunday not reporting, hopefully it finally dethrones James Cameron's overrated ass.
Endgame was phenomenal
They're doing it on purpose so when it bombs they can justify never doing it again
BW is an Incredibly unnecessary film tbh.
