LMA and DDR accounted for 12 assists.
Pretty ing stupid thread, honestly.
It’s really amazing that this team went from supernatural ball movement to this sticky ball bull . All you get is ball stoppers shooting long 2s. As much slack Paddy and Marco get, they literally made the difference today.
I mean, I get it, let’s blame nephew and look the other way. I just can’t do it. Carmelo Aldridge has the body language of a guy ready to head to Cancun. No fight, no rebellion, just get my numbers and punch the time card. DDR is new, so I’ll cut him some slack, but that whole ISO stuff doesn’t work unless you’re Sweet Lou.
Anyways, happy there’s a game 7, tbh, but still disgusted with the so-called ‘leaders’ of this team (Pop not exempt either)
LMA and DDR accounted for 12 assists.
Pretty ing stupid thread, honestly.
They did their jobs well tonight. If anything, it is White who needs to step up and take pressure off them. He's made things harder on them after Game 3, tbh. He showed glimpses tonight but he needs to put another full game together on Saturday if we hope to advance.
Gay is the difference. He can score over everyone in the 2nd unit and finally Spurs won the bench. Bottle that and we got game 7. Gay is the X factor and could open the shooters
Why is it stupid? They shot 75% and 55% respectively today and we still couldn’t get separation until Beli and Patty started draining threes. It’s simply unrealistic that they’ll shoot that well and they took 40% of all the shots.
ElNono is an idiot, come on 120,000 posts?!! Guy is a loser, tbh, Spurs made their big run when Jokic was resting.
Post count smack! Never seen det one in 120k posts...
Pretty hard to get an assist unless the guy you pass it to makes a shot. You're telling me that its surprising that they can't get separation when defenses are sagging and you don't make them pay? What? Yeah, they shot well, but who else would you rather take the majority of the shots than the team's two leading scorers?
If you don't understand why this is a stupid thread I can't help you.
My bad, it was Gay
They played sólid games, the fact that belli and patty were up to the challenge helped to seal the game.
Also, that ugly Murray , pulling those wheelchair DWade táctics, "it hertz, wont be able to walk again" and then plays like nothing happened.
Because we don’t run plays for our better players. Do you only watch the Spurs? Curry runs through 5 screens before he’s open. This isn’t 2003 when you throw it to Duncan and clear out (not to mention Aldridge is nowhere that Duncan).
I do expect better from Spurs fans, especially those that have been around and have seen the many faces of this team throughout the years. Why is it stupid to point it out?
Ehh, our bench finally outscored their bench. It only took them 6 games . Spin whatever way you want.
They were both pretty hot and it’s damn troubling that to win, the Spurs need both guys to be hitting contested mid range jumpers.
I don't like it either,, but that's how Spurs offense has been designed and it worked pretty well for most of the season. DDR and LA had fantastic accuracy today and that won't happen again in game 7 but you have to recognise Malone's defensive strategy success. He's not doubling on our two main players so they can easily distribute for others and they are forced to play 1on1 vs good defenders (Craig/Beasley, Milsaap/Plumlee, even Jokic is a good post defender). I think our leaders were agressive today, attacking the basket and taking 1on1 shots in rythm so it's hard to blame them for their offensive game despite I don't see them doing anything close to that in game 7.
Defense it's another story. Aldridge was better than the prior two games but wasn't physical enough in the paint, what about helping out Poetl in Jokic's low post defense? Same with rim protection and lost rebounds at the end of posessions when Nuggets were about to run out of time. DeRozan isn't a good defender at all we now that.
I expected Popovich to make any kind of adjustment but he just encouraged our perimeter players to stay on the shooters same way Malone has done. That put a lot of pressure on Jokic, who owned Poetl. Jakob was abused and destroyed in any single area of the court but also didn't rebound well and absent/innefective helping in the paint.
I agree the team lacks a couple of sets for our shooters to catch and shoot, being the ball in DDRs hands and with our bigs screening. That would be helpful and it would provide the 3pt shooting the team misses some times.
Currently, Spurs are not compe ive because of their defense. Yesterday, they barely could contain the Nuggets offense and they liteally outscored DEN with an all-time high FG% for just 25 assists. Offense could be better I agree, but the big trouble is in the oppossite end of the court.
Coming back to the leadership conversation, at this point of Aldridge's career in San Antonio, we all now he's not a playoff superstar that leads the team in the court. Since last season, to me it's clear he's just a very good #2 player. The arrival of DeRozan was intriguing to me because I didn't know and I thim and I hought PATFO traded for him trying to bring a #1 reference for the team. He has filled the position OK in his first season here but there are still big holes in his game to consider him an alpha man: defense, emotional control, clutch efficiency. As you say, this is just his first season with us so I'll wait to the next season to judge him. Let's see what he does in summer and training camp with the Spurs coaches.
Yeah right, let's rely on our bench that couldn't hit a jump shot for 5 games in a row. Op is on drugs
Not to mention we also made our run when Jokic and Murray sat
Piss poor effort OP
He was 0-7 from three . . .
Par for the course for OP, tbh. LMA showed emotion all night. Hecarried our team for the 2nd year in a row. And Pop has said asmuch. It's like OP watched an entirely different game.
Many good points, especially regarding the hard-to-repeat shooting performace by LMA+DDR. Which makes me totally disagree on your take about defense.
The defense is not the problem. Unless you belive you can win 4 playoff games 95-92 in today's NBA.
The problem is the offense. To keep DEN at 103 is already great: at that point it is totally in your hands to win the game. Making more points.
I personally would love a 65-63 playoffs game, but it not possible in today's NBA (and it would be unwatchable, given today's rules).
Spurs issue is the offense. In game-6 we made 30% of the points from 3pt. This is the bare minimum to win against DEN but also agains anybody in the playoffs. And in fact DEN lost.
I see the defense limitation this team has. But it is not as bad as many believe. Numbers don't lie. SA kept DEN below 108 points in 3 games, this is acceptable defense.
What doesn't win you games is not making 3s.
Nono with the trolling bads tbh
The separation didn't happen because Joker was unstoppable. Finally, Spurs got the break when he went to the bench beginning of 4th..
