Yes Duncan didn't like AJ's constant nagging and also didn't like how he tried to push religion on the team. He put up with it up until the Spurs got swept by the Lakers in '01. AJ was an FA and the Spurs didn't re-sign him. Spurs drafted Parker that summer and AJ responded after the Spurs refused to resign him by saying something along the lines "They drafted a kid to do a man's job." There was a telling interview many years ago during the '06 playoffs where they asked Duncan if he could ever play for AJ and Duncan responded by saying no not a chance. AJ also admitted during his retirement ceremony that he did drive Duncan nuts when he said and I'm paraphrasing "Tim thanks for putting up me."

Me neither. I figured if Duncan was irritated by AJ and his religious expressions he might have been by the Admiral's tendency to wear his religion on his sleeve too. Wonder what if any differences there were/are between the two because it seems Duncan and David are tight today...training together and what not.

He didn't say it directly but indirectly by saying this and I'm paraphrasing "It really shocked me at first that how Tim who is a good person could not believe in god. It was the first time in my life I can recall being around some who is good but doesn't not have a religious connection. Tim is still my brother but if he ever wants to have connection with God I'm here." Dave always accepted Tim for who he was and that's why they are still close today.

Taking a small sample of shots as a volume shooter at 27 years old is a garbage stat when you try to compare SIX years from the time he was 19 years old to 25 YO as a developing player. Typical ESPN. Did Pop ever have #2 go as many minutes as the Nursemaid did last night in a non-OT game?

The point is not about the fact that this guy is a great player. The FACTs are that he and his group cannot be trusted to be available to have him play lets say 80-90% of his games in a RS. No back to backs might continue. He was "broken down" in 2018 and could not get past the 2nd round in 2017. How do you win by giving up $50-60MM you could have earned from the Spurs Guaranteed just by playing ball and not being an A-hole along with his "Group". Kawhi has no attraction regarding endorsements at all to the extent he could make up the money SA could have paid him. He has answered no questions regarding durability by missing every fourth game and never playing a back to back two or three years after his supposed injury occurred. He won't even articulate what is actually wrong with him. The Spurs totally sheltered him for years and he thinks all he has to do is pretend what he and his group did was proper behavior. Look it - Nephew stole over $20MM dollars last season. Period. The guy never was injured in that nothing was torn or broken.

Yeah I always heard that Tim didn't dig the 'soapbox preaching' of AJ. It would drive anybody crazy though! In the end they are probably pals...that don't hang out much.
