I'm pretty sure Pop gets CP3 and Griffin to the wcf if he was the coach of the clippers. Rivers did a great coaching season, just like Malone. Still, Pop would be top 5 this season.
Pop is the GOAT and Bud is arguably the best coach right now..it was funny how quickly people tried to dismiss his coaching immediately after the Bucks lost game 1, such an overreaction![]()

He had one of the top offense all season, so no, he was not wrong. Defense was the issue and that the role players got exposed when needed.
Thats how people are with everything and it’s understandable. There have been plenty of times people have been proven right (Dantoni at times - Reverse for Brad Stevens and being anointed to hated).
There are often times fine lines between being a great coach or viewed as awful. Sometimes, its not about adjustments but guys just executing and making shots etc..
I think Bud was definitely one of the few assistants who stood up to Pop and let him know when he was wrong. Unlike those yes men he got sitting with him on the bench right now. By the way I was just thinking yesterday about how great the Bucks management has been.
I mean a few years back they only had Middleton and Giannis. The Bledsoe trade was great. So was the Mirotic trade. Singing Brook Lopez. Getting George Hill. They didn't make any big splashes on the free agency market, but they surrounded their 2 best players with the right supporting cast.

kawhi carried that coach who couldnt win without td
It's also about the coach imparting confidence to the players. If the coach doesn't exude confidence it's harder for the players to do so. That's how teams get beat mentally.
Swap Derozan with Giannis and we win the whole thing. Bud has a cornerstone piece, we don't, lets not get carried away here. Giannis affects the game on both ends and he's 7 feet tall. Players like him cannot be found outside the lottery very often, he is one of a kind. Even if he doesn't give you anything offensively he will give everything defensively. Bud was very lucky here to find that job open.
Going to say he wasn't the real coach, tbh.
Kawhi's Raptors beat a Pop-led Milwaukee team in 5, to be fair. Bucks only won Game 1 because Lopez was unstoppable. Pop would've had Lopez on the bench for Ilyasova and Mirotic.... Kind of like he did with Duncan in 2016 in favor of Diaw and West.
Bud still is a good coach, its not his fault his star missed 25 fts in the series, which btw is the more than point differential this series.
Also the dumb who paid Bledsoe wasn't him
This Bucks team will be incredibly flawed as long as Giannis can’t shoot, and they have other horrible offensive players on the floor with him. Bledsoe was all defensive team, but he was unplayable in key moments. They were relying on Hill and Lopez to save their season.
Bucks are a brutal matchup in the regular season but can be schemes against in the playoffs. Half the teams in the west playoffs probably beat them as well.
