The 9 fingered Lithuanian got cut from the rotation as well does that mean he's done as well or are we playing favorites?
Bertans wasn't cut from the rotation during the regular season. He was cut from the Denver series, had Spurs won, Pop would have reinserted him against Portland.

I still think Bertans should have been seeing minutes over Belinelli or Mills, but I digress.

What happened to the CP3 avatar, tbh?
You're talking to the last remaining member of the Start Fatty Mills crew icydk.... His player evaluation is down there with that special needs poster dabom who's on his 7th account now.

Parker got cut from the rotation because Borrego thought the season was over and wanted to give the younger guys minutes. Bertans got the doghouse because Pop wanted to win. Period.

Hornets had a better record when Parker played. Spurs had a better record when Bertans wasn't a starter and was a garbage time player. These are the facts man.

Link? All I saw, was a Hornets' team fighting for a playoffs' spot untill the final game, and Parker not being part of it.

Explains a lot. Then again, I'd rather have Mills at $15 million than CP3 at $40 million. And to be fair, I'd scrub that CP3 avatar too

Here you go, a hornets forum. https://swarmandsting.com/2019/04/08...part-rotation/

If you weren't a bias Manu fan, you would've noticed by the many times Parker threads were bumped during the season that Parker had his best year since 2014. He won the Hornets 5-10 games that they would've lost if scrubs like Mills or Graham were in his spot. If you combine Manu's highest scoring games of his last 2-3 seasons, Parker probably matched them this season. Hornets fans on Reddit even said he has been their best FA signing in 5 years... you won't see a poster here or on Reddit other than yourself say that about Bertans $7M/ per deal. Ever.

And yeah, I have followed Parker's performance all season long (via box-score watching mostly because I don't get many Hornets' games down here and I wasn't going to stream ing Hornets' games) and I noticed he was never as good as people were making it seem here. I just didn't say anything because I didn't care for calling out Tony for poor play when that play isn't affecting the Spurs, tbh. If you check his metrics, Tony has been a net negative player all across the board, except for defensive on/off for some reason (I Guess Kemba really sucks on defense)

There's a reason Tony is contempleting retirement despite being on contract and being so vocal about the fact of wanting to play 20 seasons, tbh. And that reason is that he realizes he isn't as good as he needs to be to have the type of role he wants on this part of his career.

I will never understand Manu Fan's incessant and undying hate of Parker. Good friends, will still be good friends 30 years from now, neither was ever jealous of the other, both got a similar amount of spotlight, both had their highs and lows, both had times when they were underrated and overrated, both going to the Hall of Fame.

Unfortunately, it appears as if similar battle lines are being drawn for White and Murray. I guess it might not be Manu Fan; might be Spur Fan in general.

Agreed. I never liked one better than the other. I liked both equally. Always though both were equal in the sense that they took turns being the second option for Duncan.

Long overdue decision, IMO. Should've happened back in 2015, after trying to defend the championship.

At least those that were extremely alarmed when he said he wanted to play until he was 40, and rightly so, can sleep better at night now.

Had a great career, and it's time to raise that jersey on the rafters, next to Bowen and Avery.

I don't know if it's referred to me but I have never been a Tony hater, tbh. I have always given him props when props were warranted. And I'm not hating him now either, I'm just calling it how I see it, just like I do with everyother player. I'm not an Aldridge and DeRozan hater either, for example, I'm just not that high on their games.

You can't say someone is a hater for saying "player X isn't that good of a player" when all objective metrics support that claim, tbh.

It was so obvious he was benched because they wanted to go younger. Every one but Manu fans with an agenda see that.

His last two games played before the DNP's:
    At WAS: 16PTS, 3AST, 7/12fg, 2/3 3p in 14 minutes
    At MIA: 11PTS, 4/5fg, 1/2 3p in 17 minutes

Do those games justify being benched for the remainder of the season? Tell me with a straight face.

Also lol at judging him because of his advanced stats. Same numbers show Derrick White isn't a good defender, and say Kaw hi has been a 0.0 defensively in the playoffs despite neutralizing Simmons. Not even going to mention how much those numbers made by nerds who wanted an impact in basketball loved Pau Gasol over the last two years

Yes it's pretty daft being a huge fan of one and not the other considering they did most everything (insert air quotes) "together," sans their National team efforts.

It's like John and Paul...yeah you might have a favorite, but they were in the @$%#ing Beatles together!

    Mmh, what? White's DBPM: 1.1

Anyway, of course I'm not saying advanced stats are infallible, but 90% of the time they do tend to paint a pretty accurate picture. Specially when the stats are pretty clear all across the board. Not just one or two tenths either side of the 0.

About the other point, if Parker was benched because Borrego thought the season was over, why didn't he bring Tony back when they were right back into the fight? If Tony really did as well as some of you say, why is he contemplating retirement despite the fact that he would like to keep playing?

    Half agree.

Parker was fine this season, totally passable as a backup PG. If he wanted to play another year, he could albeit in a minor role.

Bertans was not a garbage time player (22+ mpg). He was leading the league in 3pt% before a slump. Spurs were significantly better during the RS with him on the floor. Denver schemed him off the floor in the series by playing with two bigs. Don’t look anything more into his benching than that.

I just got annoyed from all the parker hate from the fans on this board. It's true that the fans and the city never quite embraced Parker as much as they did Manu and Duncan.
Obviously there's a language reason but also if we're being honest, Parker wasn't quite as likable as Manu ever was. Both were warriors and champions, hall of famers, who got along great and had mutual respect.
It's just that next to Tim and Manu, Parker's character flaws seemed magnified. Bit snootier, French, kind of ty to flirt with a teammate's wife (I dont think they actually went further than that).
Tony was underappreciated here and some people (you know who they are) refuse to see anything but negative in his time here. Why? Probably because it's reactionary - just like with Kyle Anderson. People hated him not because of him so much but because they were sick of SAGirl and her constant slurping.

For Manu fans it's extra re ed because there was no rivalry between them whatsoever - they didn't play the same position, have the same roles, or really have anything to cause tension between the two.

Parker should have stayed. That is the main reason he'll always be the baby of the big 3 in my mind.

He'll probably retire. Players are usually the last to know when they're washed.

No, it's not correct that people love Parker less, civilians in San Antonio love Parker plenty, it's just a certain type of guy is offended by Tony Parker's overt masculine at ude. Scrawny French boy turns into global style icon, all star pg, and ty rapper and people go nuts. Oh and he had some consensual sex once and everyone here is Brent Barry's bff or something.

People hated Kyle Anderson because he didn't play the way people wanted. Spurstalk wants everyone to be a 6'6' guard who can drive, shoot threes, and dunk. So they overate Jonathan Simmons and get mad at a defense first combo forward who struggles to shoot.
