Congrats to Kawhi on that game winner. That shot just validated the Kawhi trade for Toronto.
As for people talking about Spurs should feel bad about trading a potential MJ caliber player. I don't think they wanted to trade him but he didn't want to remain a Spur, and he looked like a jerk at the time so Spurs got what they could. It sucks but that's the way it went down, I wish he would have wanted to remain with the team.

I don’t see how anything other than going further than they had with DeRozan is validation. I mean, it was the right move no matter what happened; but results wise, they have to do more than they had before. Especially if he walks.
But in terms of over all mindset, even if they got swept in the first round IMO, it was still a move you have o make.
Getting this far makes it feel better than getting swept, but big picture, they have been here before with DeRozan.

I like watching basketball, especially the Spurs. Sometimes I watch other teams, and other players. So some guy, who used to play for the Spurs, takes a wild, last-second shot, that bounces off the rim a couple times, and falls through, and wins the game. Wow. Cool. Very dramatic. But the thought never crosses my mind that he did it to make me happy, or unhappy.

Whether you love or hate Kawhi, that shot will be replayed a bunch of times. Just like Dame's series winners or MJ's shot.

We lost him; He went to another team, got healthier, and got better. Time to move on. Let's keep playing Spurs basketball and keep aiming for the championship. Kawhi's lucky to have had that training; but I don't expect him to come back, so I'm not gonna hold my breath and plead until he does. He's doing his thing; we should do ours and keep improving our game.
Him carrying his team to victory is validation even if they don't defeat the superior bucks next round.
Favorite player for years. The Spurs don't have anybody significant. He's still one of the best watches in basketball and to me the best. So I might as well root for him and enjoy the show tbh.

In 2016 the east was so poor. None of the teams in the east outside of Cleveland were regarded as 5 teams in terms of playoff potential
They have the Bucks, Celtics, and Philly now. The hype around this run is more so because of how People rank teams.

You're acting like the Raptors weren't desperate to trade DeRozan the last 2 seasons (Can't blame them). They were willing to risk half a season of PG to get rid of him.
The 76ers and Celtics were both colossal disappointments this year. Let's not make them out to be juggernauts.
But not really. Lebron and his Cavs were better than any team in this East.
Boston was exposed big time. Philly was proven to be pretty overrated. They just aren’t that good. MIL is, so we will see how they do there.
