, take a look at the 3x Finals MVP at the 45:01 mark of every game:
BAAAAAAHHHAAHAHA!![]()
^stat nerd. Kang said it best:
FOH with your stats. I bet you was upstairs beating off to Kiwi's 41 points, huh? On 39 shots![]()
And Kobe was not really clutch or at least as much as his advocates say - see earlier post..... Kobe was a volume scorer nothing more who appeared to play very hard but when it counted he was nothing more than a number two option led to les by the greatness of prime Shaq or later when he was gift-wrapped Gasol and the greatness of Phil Jackson.........
Not much choice though, had to keep shooting, his teammates all looked s shocked. Siakem was invisible, Green played 30 minutes and contributed 2 points. I know his efficiency numbers sucked but that was more the story of a guy trying to pull a boulder back up a cliff. He was looking for his invisible teammates, but if he kept it up it would have eventually lost them the game.
To me, there are levels of disappointing play but the absolute worst is when a teams top guy misses a few, starts to shy away and then doesn't play aggressive when the whole entire team is looking for them to come up big (probably what the Spurs will deal with for the foreseeable future). He could have easily gave up after choking that second free throw away and then being late for the contest on the other side. But he got that insane shot up, ugly as it may have looked the result was the same and they move on.
Imagine if #2 rings this year and takes down the whole ex-spurs coaching tree on the way haha.
Well I am not going to kill him for the number of shots he took. He took 39. Kobe would have taken 60..
game winner right there, 4th qtr, the only FT of 8 that he missed :
10.8 Kawhi Leonard misses free throw 2 of 2

How many game winners did kobe score last the 2nd round in his illustrious 20 seasons?

The only ones worse on the list are Chauncey Billups, sheed, Miller and jermaine.
clutch.
If Leonard makes both his free throws we ring in 2013.
I know this is me being nostalgic, but look at how well Dirk does across these clutch statistics. At or near the top, always.
It's incredible in many ways how a reputation can be built independent of facts. Dirk was one of the most clutch players of the 2000s, yet needed a superhuman playoff run to shut up the critics once and forever.
Kobe is average at best, yet people were seriously comparing him to MJ for many years.
I always thought dirk got a bad rep. Most people talking basketball are not high on bbiq, or iq, in general. Dirk looked like a soft guy so he is soft and as such he is a choker.
Kobe put on a mean face with a jutted jaw so he’s serious and so must be clutch.
It’s amazing how stupid people are and now convicted someone can be on a subject considering how misinformed they are.
Looked at my past posting history and I don’t need believer I ever seriously called dirk a choker. He was undoubtedly subjected to be shut down by long athletic defenders though but that’s mostly matchups.
There are really very few chokers out there, defined by players who for no explainable reasons just play much worse under the bright lights. Pedo is one and Harden is the other. I think cp3 is arguably in that camp.
You a 3rd world country, Kobe hating, stat geek. Riddle me this. When have you ever seen such a clutch 2pt 4th quarter performance from Kobe?![]()
You act like Kobe never shot 6-24 and won the fmvp.
Did he score 2pts or not in the 4th quarter of a playoff game when his team needed him?
Poop will forever be responsible for that L, subbing out TD for Diaw was the worst move ever.
He had many games he scored zero points in the entire playoff game.
Oh wait, his team didn’t need him.
