Lakers should probably forget the Anthony Davis pipedream. Even if the Knicks don’t necessarily have the better offer (arguable either way), there’s a good chance New Orleans simply refuses to deal him to the Lakers just out of spite. The guy the Lakers should target in a trade for the #4 pick is Brad Beal. Wall is out for most of the season, maybe the entire season. There’s a good chance they blow it all up, starting with Beal. #4 and Ingram might even be enough, probably better for cap reasons to give deal both Ingram AND Ball. And Beal is the type of shooter and scorer the Lakers really need next to LeBron. They should still have enough cap room for a $25+ million free agent, possibly up to $33-34 million if they deal both Ingram and Ball. Not enough for Kawhi or KD, but maybe they risk rolling the dice on someone like Boogie. Or just use that cap money on multiple role playing shooters.
LeBron, Beal, Boogie, Kuzma as the core is a big improvement and could be in the mix for a top 4 playoff seed in the West.
