Probably makes it extra sweet that he's ting on all of Pop's students on the way to the Finals. Brett Brown and Bud. If he beats GS, you can throw in Kerr as well.
I'm sure this has never crossed Kawhi's mind.

First year in a new team and he's at the brink of taking them to the Finals. Who does that? Name one player who's done that before? KD joined a stacked Warriors team who's won a championship already before he got there.

Kawhi is the Magnus Carlsen of basketball.
Lebron with the Heat. I don't see whats so surprising here, Raps are the most experienced playoff team in the East.

Spurs were obliging to Kawhi when he demanded a trade. It's not as if they wanted it to happen. The Spurs won 5 championships in a 19 year window, as the most winning team in all team sports. They did it as a team, of course with a generational player at the lead. However Tim had a team. The Big 3 stuck together and didn't disappear at the first sign of trouble. Will Kawhi ever have a team like that? Will he accomplish what Time, Manu, Tony, Pop, and the Spurs have? That remains to be seen. He's having a good run in the ECF and has a long way to go.

All of these conspiracy theories about the bad Spurs management break down when you look at facts:

    1. Kawhi made it clear that there were only a few teams he would play for. He wasn't just trying to get away from the Spurs, he was trying to get to specific cities.

    2. Only four players had signed a supermax contract. (Not many are eligible.) Curry, Harden, Westbrook, and Wall. Wall's is considered the worst contract in the whole league - because of chronic injury. A first grader could understand why the Spurs would want to look before possibly making the new worst contract in the whole league. It's debatable whether Kawhi is as smart as a first grader.

    3. If a team is willing to invest over $200 Million in you, you can't claim that they aren't "committed" to you. These guys soak up 35% of the salary cap, and then want to that their teams can't surround them with more high-priced talent. And they demand that the team go deep, deep into the lux tax before they'll say whether they will even accept a super-max extension.

Most of these guys (Paul George leaps to mind) claim, "I didn't care about the money, I just wanted to win." So here's the solution: any player who gets offered a super-max deal from his team, and leaves anyway, can only get paid the 10-year vet minimum by his next team. Let's see how many of them say they don't care about money then.

    Oh, and... Kawhi.
Kawhi never actually said anything... Only the media did... The same media that nba players come out on occasion to say they never said anything to that effect... The media keeps trying to get players to big markets... All they were doing was speculating, but stating it as fact... Notice they never gave nor indicated they even had a source for their information... And when they do give sources, it is from opposing GMs

One possibility is Nephew's injury isn't that serious and he just has a low pain threshold. Looking back on his ankle rolls (stepping on David Lee's foot and even the Zaza incident) that were relatively minor yet forced him to sit out playoff games, it's possible he's just not good at playing through even minor discomfort.
Now the Zaza incident wasn't worth him sitting out?? LMFAO! u guys are precious

22 year streak coming to an end

not games, an entire series. He was always like that, any minor pain and he usually doesn't want to play, that's why I'm a little surprised he goes that hard for the Raptors. Might just be cause he's looking for that contract
What we're the entire series he missed due to injury? Only GS... u guys act as if it is something that happened every year... It's sad to read at this point... The revisionist history...

And if he didn't play through his injury now, u guys would be saying he is trying to look for that contract... Now that he IS playing, ur saying the same thing... Kawhi derangement syndrome

I do agree the media these days is always pushing an agenda and publicly Kawhi’s camp didn’t state where he wanted to go or even that he wanted to be traded

But either you are naive or disingenuous to act like he doesn’t have media members who are pushing narratives in his favor on a daily basis. Chris Carter, Monday through Friday since all this craziness started has been Kawhi’s ally and public mouth piece. He has even stated that he is good with the man and his family and has chatted with his Uncle Dennis.

No one, and he doesnt have another "superstar", he has good players, but if he doesnt play good, they have no chance. If KD doesn't play the Warriors win easily haha

    LeBron? Miami?

Call me when Load Management makes that many Finals in a row. It won't happen, though, because of the word "degenerative". Right now, as bad as it is, his quad is a good as it will ever be for the rest of his career. Each year, the tissues will break down a little more, and it will be more painful to play.

Pop is always lying. When Kawhi was on the team he said he's a leader, he leads by example. Then Kawhi is off the team and he's not a leader.

He also lied when he said DeRozan was a closer and Patty is the best teammate ever. Nvm he truly believes that
