it's one thing to hate Kawhi for his character (which is absolutely normal until we know the whole story) the other is a shameful and pathetic change of opnion over Kawhi's game and its insane impact when the deal was made (logically the opposite happened in Demar, which 100% of the forum used to laugh and call it a false star) as if Kawhi was not destroying teams by own account, when playing in SA.

The only way in which I'd put a lot of the blame on the Spurs is if, at some point, they indicated that the supermax was not an option. If you can give those contracts to Wombat and Pau, you have to give the supermax to Neph even if you have concerns about his thigh. If they didn't make it abundantly clear to Uncle that the supermax was theirs to have then they ed up royally.

This. I still feel though, the Spurs should've never made public comments about Kawhi at all. Everything anybody said about Kawhi got blown out of proportion by ESPN cause they wanted him in LA. Pop shouldve just said he's rehabbing and tell every player to not say anything about the situation. That might've helped. Just a weird situation, Kawhi still seems to be the same guy, no difference from when he was playing here
