"While the ever-private Spurs aren’t talking about any of this, it is clear they’re still grieving and healing from the loss of Leonard, even after what ranked, by most accounts, as a fine bounce-back season without him.

Although the Kawhi-less Spurs won 48 games to extend their league-record run of playoff appearances to 22 seasons in a row, then pushed the second-seeded Denver Nuggets to seven games in the first round, rest assured that they remain crestfallen over Leonard’s departure.

Spurs Coach Gregg Popovich, in all of his 25 years in charge in San Antonio alongside his trusted front-office ace, R.C. Buford, has had only two players ask out. The first, LaMarcus Aldridge, canceled his request after a face-to-face meeting with Popovich smoothed over any concerns. With Leonard, Popovich tried a similar meeting, only to concede shortly thereafter that the Spurs — after so many years making player comfort an organizational priority — had no choice but to heed Leonard’s insistence on being traded and get the most in return that they could rather than lose him outright in free agency."

Chris Carter the "mouthpiece" also said there's no way Kawhi plays in Toronto... He doesn't know ... He is speculating like everyone else
Tbh Kawhi prob didn’t want to be in TOR and they were using CC to try and scare them off.

    Clippers ...

Stein reporting that the Clippers quietly made inquiries to buy the Klaw logo back from Nike to use in their free agency pitch to Leonard. Nike will rebuff for as long as they can.

That klaw logo is beautiful. Easily the best in the league, and with his career trajectory had the chance to be the most iconic logo since the jumpman logo, imo. I hope the got never gets it back, tbh.

No one ever said he was faking it. Kawhi will deal with tendinopathy for the rest of his career, and it will need to be managed.

When I say managed, I don't mean playing 9 games the whole season. He wanted out of SA, and used it as an excuse. As well as trying to disguise his status to increase his leverage in a trade scenario.

If Kawhi and his team didn't have issues with SA prior to this debacle, they would've been up front with SA like they were with TOR. Nope, the plan was to force Patfo's hand and hopefully land in LA. Patfo tried their best, but Kawhi and his team played it really well.

I don't blame Kawhi and KD for doing whatever they feel is best for their families, and their own happiness... but it's slippery slope we're on right now in the NBA. Where NBA players do whatever they want and the media will do damage control to protect the product. The anti-capitalist/anti-billionaire in me appreciates the gestures, but the NBA fan in me can't help but be despise them for not sticking to the status quo.

Kawhi has had tendionapathy since his days in San Diego State yet hes had 70+ games seasons. I believe the medical stuff managed this injury fairly well until his 9 game season. More than likely, he was experiening more pain than usual but the spurs thought it was the average day.

I believe kawhi 100% that this season he was trully in pain. I think when you miss a whole season your pain treshold is reduced significantly.

I don't think the most conservative team in sports, underestimated the pain he was dealing with. Rather, they kept giving him more rope, until they didn't have any left. With Kawhi's camp becoming ever more distant, somewhere along the line they probably realized what was going on, and that spurred the players only meeting, "ask his team" comments etc etc...which probably just pushed kawhi further away.

Strange ordeal altogether. I guess the alternative was requesting a trade to LA mid season like Davis, and having it possibly fall thru, then be forced to face those fans for the rest of the season.

Cris Carter mouthpiece already going on air and saying Kawhi to the Clippers.

Las Vegas books releasing their Kawhi free agent odds and Clippers are HEAVY favorites.

Do the math. Had little/nothing to do with what SA did. Had nothing to do with anything TOR did. Kawhi has been angling for LA for 2 years - before any injury and before his teammates hurt his feelings.
Yup, no matter what Kawhi suckers try to say

    Its fairly obvious.

I've been trolling around with Kawhi on a clippers jersey since 2016. . Maybe he get the idea from my Kawhi in a clippers jersey sig in 2015. .

San Antonio just never made sense for Kawhi from a PR stand point. They way he handled the request was made, but its clear kawhi and his camp want to be treated like the Jordans of the league and hes getting that now in Toronto.

San Antonio just doesnt make sense for players looking to build a legacy.

Has everyone forgotten that when Kawhi came back for those 9 games last year, it wasn't the quad injury that sidelined him again? He supposedly had a "partial tear" in his shoulder, and the leg wasn't even mentioned. That was in his 8th game back, and afterward he said in an interview that it "wasn't serious". He sat out a week, came back for one game where he played good, and it was 4 days later when the Spurs "shut him down indefinitely".

At the time Pop had this to say:
"It hasn't responded the way we wanted it to," Spurs coach Gregg Popovich told the San Antonio Express-News on Wednesday.
"He's given it a shot. He's frustrated as . He wants to play badly. But if we're going to err, we're going to do it on the side of health and being wise."
"I'm probably more conservative than most, but the trainers, the rehab people, the doctors, the coaches, we all talked about this for a long time," Popovich said.

So did the Spurs rush him back that first time? Was his leg still bothering him then? This is what Kawhi said in a post game interview:"I had been just trying to stay ready in case he called me," Leonard said. "The hardest things have been finding my wind, running the play calls, building the chemistry again, the defensive rotations -- really everything. [Not leg pain.] I have been taking my time, not skipping any steps, so I can be healthy and ready down the road."

And here's a video (below) of his last game before they shut him down. He's not showing any sign of the leg hurting. None. In fact, the comments were all about how his speed was better, and he looked better than in any of the games since he returned. And remember - that was the last game before they shut him down for the season. Nothing I've seen adds up with what Uncle is claiming now. I don't know what happened, but it wasn't what we're being told.

you do realize that iceman, admiral and Timmy are legends right? And if you’re talking about something like lebron has, he build his legacy in Cleveland. Not L.A, not NY, not Boston. If your good enough and your winning, doesn’t matter where you play.

But he was saying that AFTER the trade went through... So what ur saying makes no sense... He is out of the loop... Just because he knows then he uses that to bolster himself at ESPN as some sort of insider... They don't tell him

That most conservative team stuff is old... They did that for the big 3 that they had significant history with... They didn't do that for other players nearly to that extent

Besides if we can acknowledge that Pop changed as a coach since his past, why can't we say the same for the staff?

They had Gasol playing on a broken foot for goodness sakes, after misdiagnosing him!

And all the ppl talking about Tony coming back from injury... The guy was trash when he came back...and he is a PG for goodness sakes... The demand is different on his body than the demand Kawhi has on his... Plus he had no future to consider... His legacy was cemented

Bro... Kawhi never complained about being hurt even in the Bucks series when he was OBVIOUSLY hurt! Lol...we can't give a guy credit for not complaining when he is on our team, but use it against him when he is on a different one

U are picking and choosing what to point out... During the 9 games this very same forum were saying he came back too quickly based on how he looked while playing... It was more than just being tired...

Secondly Kawhi himself said the bigger issue wasn't really how he felt in game, but the day AFTER... so showing a clip of his latest game is dancing around the issue that Kawhi had... I remember ppl pointing out him limping to the podium at times during the 9 game stretch
