FK makes a point that has been argued by the State of Texas in redistricting lawsuits: that doing redistricting to favor one party is a legit legislative prerogative or at least, one that the judiciary shouldn't be able to second guess.
The surprise would be if SCOTUS5 s block partisan gerrymandering

I doubt you'd cooperate with a government you believed would use the information against you personally.
Completely apart from that, it's normatively offensive (and possibly uncons utional) for public policies to favor and disfavor groups according to political viewpoint.

Winehole is correct. This administration is only interested in demonizing immigrants whether they are legal or illegal. It's ludicrous to suggest that they enforce the laws that are already on the books. Asking a legitimate question on the United States census is wholly detrimental to our Democracy and I'm disgusted by those who would suggest otherwise.
The US Census isn't part of immigration enforcement, not should it be. The suggestion that I -- or anyone else in this thread -- disagrees with regulating immigration per se, is pure strawmanning.
