Fansided: All U Can Heat: Miami Heat: Mock drafting the first round of the 2019 NBA draft
by Duncan Smith 3 hours ago [AKA 11 June 2019]

    29
    Daniel Gafford
    Forward, Spurs

Daniel Gafford could be a high-reward pick late in the first round for the Spurs. The 6’11” forward is not a polished shooter, but remarkably agile and physically skilled for his size to go with a 7’2″ wingspan.
    19
    Sekou Doumbouya
    Forward, Spurs

Doumbouya is still raw as a prospect in some areas, but that almost makes him the perfect fit for San Antonio. They can take his blooming offensive potential/defensive tools and craft this very uniquely athletic specimen into the player they want based on their own personal desires. Sounds sort of like another guy they drafted with a similar profile, *place awkward viral laughter here

    SB Nation: Grizzly Bear Blues:
2019 GBB Community Mock NBA Draft: Picks #19 and #20
    Another day of no trades!
    By Joe Mullinax@JoeMullinax Jun 11, 2019, 7:42am CDT

The ripple effect of the earlier lottery “reaches” continues today, as once again it appears the Spurs (and their mock GM Mark King of GBB) get a later round steal.
With the 19th pick in the 2019 GBB Community Mock NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select Romeo Langford, wing, Indiana University

With some mock drafts having Langford going as high as the late lottery, even with concerns about shooting percentages while at Indiana this feels like a steal. Maybe that’s the Spurs effect- San Antonio always picks later in drafts, and coach Gregg Popovich and company just continue to develop young talent and win. Langford has all the tools to be a very good NBA wing, but they have to be refined and trained. He couldn’t ask for a better landing spot.

Another prospect is about to luck out, as the mighty Boston Celtics are on the clock. With Anthony Davis in the fold how will Boston’s mock GM (GBB’s Parker Fleming) build around him?

    Los Angeles Times:
NBA mock draft 2.0: A look at Zion Williamson and beyond
    By Dan Woike
    Jun 11, 2019 | 4:00 AM

No. 19 San Antonio Spurs: Brandon Clarke, Gonzaga, F, 6-8, 215

A really good athlete, albeit a little undersized as a frontcourt piece.
No. 29 San Antonio Spurs: Luka Samanic, Croatia, F, 6-11, 230

A star of the predraft workout process, he could be picked sooner.

Would love for Clarke to slip, but I don’t see it. In my opinion, I can see promising guards with no jumpshot still being around.

I know you typically go BPA, but at some point you have to take care of other positions. White, DJM, Walker, Forbes, Mills, and Beli seems like overkill already.

With the news of Roby in for a second workout, I'm looking at it like this:

    19th: Bazley
    29th: Roby

Roby has a 7'3" wingspan and huge hands. I think he could grow into something special.

Which is exactly why I have almost no interest in anybody under 6'10".

Forbes and Beli are on the last years of their contracts. Mills has one more year after this one. You don't pass on a really good guard that may drop like DJ or LW IV did to balance out your roster. The kid would spend a year in Austin, anyway, and be ready for the big club when Beli and Forbes roll off. Besides, it doesn't matter what I think or what you think. The Spurs draft BPA. Always.

not bad although any combination of Little, Rui, Thybulle, Washington, Samanic, Roby, Bazley and Okeke would be considered ideal imo

I’d be okay with Isaiah Roby at 19, he has good potential to replace Rudy Gay eventually

I expect a big jump from Murray, Walker & White next year. With the Durant injury, it really opens things up next year. No one else in the conference is that unbeatable.

I want Okeke at 29. I think without the ACL tear he’s a top 15 talent in this draft.

At 19 I would prefer Hayes, Hachimura, or Clarke drop to that spot.

True, but even with them off the books next year that still gives us White, DJ, IV, Mills and DDR (provided he moves back to his traditional position), Belli and Forbes all fighting for minutes in two positions. Even if the hypothetical guard we draft spends a year in Austin it still leaves 5 people battling for 2 positions the next year (assuming DDR either opts in or they sign an extension). There just isn't enough minutes to go around and someone's growth will be stunted. I'm all for BPA but I really think we need to focus on other positions. If they do go with a 1 or 2 then we need to start clearing out some guys quick so we have the minutes to go around. If not then we're left with the unfortunate option of either A) watching someone sit and not develop or B) move people out of position (DDR and DJ at the 3 are the first that come to mind). Both options suck imo
