That's a pretty great draft tbh, even if its predictable.
Probably still prefer Samanic and Roby though.
Good point. Unless trades happen were just hoarding gaurds at this point. I'm excited to hear most 1st rounders are SF/PF types this year so Spurs will have many options to choose from and I am confident they will pick at least good one in the 1st round so I can see them going for a C but not anything below a SF for sure unless it is an extreme draft and stash we never heard of.

Looks like Porter slipped to 20. IIRC he impressed the Spurs doing an interview and also worked out for them. Apparently has also been getting mentored by Dejounte Murray who went to the same high school.
https://www.charlotteobserver.com/sp...231319743.html"Two NBA guards, Jamal Crawford of the Phoenix Suns and Dejounte Murray of the Spurs, have mentored Porter. Crawford, one of the NBA’s top sixth men, has advised Porter since he was in the eighth grade in Seattle.
“More mental than physical,” Porter said of the advice from Crawford and Murray. “They know I can play; they want me mentally locked in for every single workout.”

Grant Williams
Forward Tennessee
San Antonio Spurs
Gregg Popovich and Grant Williams seem like a match made in heaven. A fundamentally-sound, non-flashy player, Williams really has no weaknesses in his game. As the Spurs look to get back to the top of the West, Williams can contribute now while also serving as a potential heir to the aging LaMarcus Aldridge.29
Bruno Fernando
Forward/Center Maryland
San Antonio Spurs
Near the end of the first round, the Spurs simply should take the best player on the board. In this case, this player is Bruno Fernando from Maryland. One of the better rebounders in this draft, San Antonio takes another dinosaur-type player that Gregg Popovich seems to have an affinity for, despite the way the NBA is moving.

NBA Draft
19
Goga Bitadze
C Republic of Georgia
San Antonio Spurs
“Is there a better fit for this big man from the Republic of Georgia than Gregg Popovich’s system? Goga Bitadze is considered the most NBA ready overseas player in the draft class and he proved that during his time playing professional ball this year. Bitadze appears to be a rounded player that can do everything pretty well, which is right up Pop’s alley.
Bitadze is looking like another solid foreign born player with the ability to play inside out. His post moves look good, his shooting stroke is very solid and his passing ability for a big is excellent as well. He seems to have a solid mix of strength and athleticism that should fair well in the NBA.
The Spurs will really be able to take advantage of Bitadze’s skillset, allowing him to stretch the floor at times as well as work his way into the post where his best strength seems to be.
His biggest concerns as a player are the same as they seem to be with most international players. He is athletic, but is he athletic enough? He is big, but is he big enough? He is tough, but is he tough enough?
Bitadze intends to answer all these questions in the upcoming season.” –KR29
Chuma Okeke
F Auburn
San Antonio Spurs
“Had the Auburn Tigers continued their incredible run through March Madness, Chuma Okeke would’ve gotten a lot of credit for them being there.
Even though he went down with an ACL tear late in their third round game, his energy and ability on the court acted as the heart and soul of the team in a lot of ways. Once upon a time, an ACL tear would steer teams away in the draft, but not so much anymore.
Okeke proved to be an important player for the Tigers on both ends of the court, playing key defense on some of the best opposing players while also averaging 12 points per game. Okeke contributes in every aspect of the game and also brings potential elite athleticism with him.
High energy guys that can buy into the team and its intentions are a great fit for Coach Popovich. Okeke gave it his all for a passionate coach in Bruce Pearl and he will be ready to do the same for perhaps the greatest coach in basketball history.
Okeke shot an impressive percentage from everywhere on the floor during his time with Auburn this year. He shot .496 field goal percentage, .387 three-point percentage and .722 free throw for the year. At 6’8, Okeke could be a really solid wing in the NBA in just a few years.” –KR

19. San Antonio Spurs
SF Kevin Porter Jr., USC, 6-5, 220
Kevin Porter didn’t exactly shine in his one year at USC, averaging 9.5 points per game. There were also a few red flags he had to address during the predraft process (injuries and a brief team suspension), but it’s hard to imagine him slipping out of the first round. He can get his shot from anywhere on the court and has hints of James Harden in his game.29. San Antonio Spurs
PF Grant Williams, Tennessee, 6-7, 220
An undersized power forward, Williams is a beast on the block with a solid midrange game. He’ll need to work on taking defenders off the dribble and defending the perimeter, but who better to learn from than coach Gregg Popovich?
I'm already prepared.
2 steals coming this draft I can feel it

Chuma Okeke
F, Auburn
Auburn
With two picks in this draft thanks to the Kawhi Leonard trade, the Spurs can afford to wait on Okeke’s torn ACL, which will likely steal his entire rookie season. When he returns, San Antonio will get a skilled, athletic forward to be an awesome role player alongside their dynamic young backcourt.19
Talen Horton-Tucker
F, Iowa State
Iowa State
Just put all the youth and athleticism in San Antonio — turn it all around. We don’t even know what a typical Spur looks like anymore.

19. San Antonio: SF Cameron Johnson, North Carolina
The Spurs could use another capable perimeter shooter given their reliance on LaMarcus Aldridge and DeMar DeRozan, two scorers who avoid the three-pointer at all costs, and Johnson would fit that mold. In addition to his ability as a three-point shooter, Johnson also has the combination of size and athleticism needed to defend both wing positions. He’d be a good 3-and-D option for San Antonio, which did a good job of getting perimeter looks for the players most capable of hitting those shots this season (30th in three-point attempts, but first in three-point percentage during the regular season).29. San Antonio (via Toronto): SG Luguentz Dort, Arizona State
Dort is one of the stronger guards in this draft class, and he’s also capable of defending both guard positions at the next level. The issues at this point in his career are the decision-making, which can be a bit spotty at times, and the inconsistency as a perimeter shooter. If Dort can become a consistent shooter he can be a valuable asset to whichever team selects him. In this mock San Antonio used its first pick on Cameron Johnson, one of the best shooters in the draft, so the Spurs can afford to take a player like Dort who has some work to do on his perimeter shot with the 29th pick.49. San Antonio: SG Jordan Bone, Tennessee
With the way the Spurs draft, have drafted. I'm prepared to not know anything about the players until the moment they get drafted. So I stopped doing prep on players. They never go with the fallers in most cases (outside of Murray).
...and Walker. Most viewed him as a lottery selection.

San Antonio Spurs
Draft Picks: 19, 29, 49
Two first-round picks for the Spurs, and to me, Bol Bol out of Oregon makes a lot of sense with the 19th pick. If somehow he falls to the 29th pick, absolutely. And that could well happen wit the concerns about his injury history. Bol is 7-foot-2 and has foot issues that kept him out for much of the season at Oregon, which is terrifying at his size, but the upside on his talent is tremendous.
The Spurs could stand to find a center to move forward with in the post-LaMarcus Aldridge days. People I've spoke to around the league wouldn't be surprised if the Spurs looked into trading Aldridge. We've already heard whispers of San Antonio being willing to move DeMar DeRozan.
Our mock draft has the Spurs taking Rui Hachimura at 19, and if he's available he fits their two-way preferences. But I don't think he will be available there, and Bol really intrigues me with San Antonio's history of great big men and a need for the next one in line.
Said one Eastern Conference scout of Bol:
"He's talented as . It's not just a height thing. He can pass, he blocks shots, he can shoot. His lateral movement will be tricky, but he's very intriguing."
Said a Western Conference scout:
"Very talented player, obviously very unique with his size. Can shoot it a little bit. He can dribble, pass. He's a really interesting player. I think if he was playing all year, there might be more buzz about him being solidly on the Top 10."
... and Anderson, who was also viewed as a lottery selection.
Damn time is going slow can’t wait till draft day.
James or Kyle?
Kyle, and add Dejuan Blair to the pile - he was a faller too...
Splitter, too.
The more I’ve watched of him I really hope the spurs get Isaiah Robyeither at 19 or 29, think he’s worth either pick. obviously 29 would be great but I think he’s gonna move up the draft boards
