They shouldn’t but they will be. If Kawhi were to win a 3rd on another team the sports media will be putting him up there. There will be a few who will try and bring up the cir stances which led to him winning but the bigger voices will start talking about him as all time great
I hear some of them do it with td all the time. They use the fact that td had a great coach and all star teammates to discredit his achievements
Yeah, while conveniently ignoring the fact that the "great coach" was a no one before he made him a someone and the only all-time great sidekick was '99 Robinson (sure, Ginobili played at that level in the '05 playoffs, but I mean overall).

Exactly what I say. I always say td made pop. It gets annoying when all of Tim’s success gets credited to pop but that’s what they do to discredit a players achievements.

I prefer him going to the Clippers or stay in Toronto. I don't like the Mavs possibility at all. With Doncic and Porzingis i can see a dynasty there. God forbid if its the Lakers, i hate them more than any other franchise. I still thing he was lucky as to win it this season. I don't see him having the same luck going forward, i think he spend it all this season.
I wouldn’t count on that. Many were proven wrong this season. Including myself. Luck didn't hardly had anything to do with it imo.

    Exactly. Perception = reality, unfortunately.

Obviously Nephew won't actually be a top 5 player ever but if he "led" a "third" team to a championship, that'd be talking head fuel for all eternity. Tim, Tony and Manu would eventually be footnotes ... when in reality, Neph could arguably have been the sixth most important player on the 2014 team behind the Big 3, Green and Diaw, IMO. At the very highest, he was the fourth most important player, tbh.
You don't think his defense on James makes his importance higher than 4th?

    4th is stupid.

He was probably the best spur in the finals but Duncan was the best player overall in the playoffs.

I'm leaving KD out of this. If Klay Thompson doesn't go down i think the Warriors win that game and i think win in Toronto too. Imagine if i put KD in there too. His so called clutch shot against the Sixers, what was that? Lucky as . The fact that his team was so stacked that he could afford to miss so many games with the load management bs, that was a lucky situation he found himself into and that led to him being the freshest star in the playoffs out of everone else. Too many coincidences all in one season went his way. Whoever says that was not lucky, i don't know what to tell you.

Honestly you guys are greatly discounting fate/karma/avenger factor from Kawhi. Tim was NOT as dominant in 1v1 as Shaq, and also in a far smaller market with less talents, but the leadership, intangibles, and fate allowed Tim to finish his career ahead of Shaq, 5 rings to 4, 2 MVPs to 1.

Two finals MVP at age 27, with a full year off, is super special. The way Kawhi did it was even more cold blooded. In 2013 his sop re season, the missed free throw cost Spurs a ring. Next year he came back and matched LeBron game score in finals games 3-5 to change the LeBron three-peat script to Spurs revenge. In 2017 he was injured by the Warriors and ended his season in Oracle. In 2019 he ended Warriors season in Oracle and made sure they could not recover with career threatening injuries to KD and Klay.

Obviously this can all end if his knee degenerates, but there is something about this man beyond stats, beyond 1v1 play. He transformed a team of softies into studs with his aura. See his teammate's performance vs Sixers and games 1-2 vs Bucks, and their performance after Kawhi battled injuries in a 52-minute double OT win to bring them back from the brink of 0-3 hole. He is the true heir to Tim Duncan and I will always cheer for him.

Ironically his best play may be to join the Lakers and get three more easy rings with a super OP roster, and at least 1 more FMVP. Toronto is a good team, just not super OP like full health warriors, or big three Lakers. Lowry is about to turn age 34, Marc Gasol about to turn age 35. Siakam is his only hope for a Pippen and I choose AD/LeBron any day of the week.

Wuttt . Let's be honest here...KL/raptors barely beat the warriors JV team....and that group of softies were a year removed from the ECF...FOH with that aura

I don't want Kawhi on the Mavs - but imagine the epic clashes if he went there. Pop should walk out for every Spurs-Mavs game in full Emperor Palpatine robes:

Can't seem to get the image to pop up. Oh well.

I believe the Raptors would’ve won in 5 had Nick Nurse not iced his own superstar and allowed GS to get Cousins off Kawhi. He was looking like the 2nd coming of Jordan before that inexplicable timeout. I don’t know about Game 6 but I don’t think they would’ve lost Game 7. That team is weird because they had alot of come from behind crucial wins but they also choked the lead away. I don’t think they can repeat as is. They need to add scoring/maybe a playmaker and I wouldn’t count on Van Vleet to be able to repeat that performance. Add Kawhi looking like was on one leg at times and having to do so much individually, running it back with just the same roster is not going to get them another le.

They’re still a good bet to go to the finals though with Philly likely losing Butler and Kawhi’s ability to shut down Giannis.

I doubt he’d pass on a guaranteed 25 million but Gasol said his decision to opt in/out would depend on Leonard’s decision. He’s opted in today.

Also this but not sure how legit it is.

How good would the Bucks be with
    Bledsoe | Hill
    Brogdon
    Leonard
    Antetokounmpo | Leuer
    Lopez | Ilyasova
    ?

Nephew and Giannis together? And with the other 3 in the lineup? They'd take down the GSW,the healthy GSW with Durant.
And that's actually funny if you think about it,cause Middleton wants 38 per to re-sign,that's Nephew max money and the Bucks are thinking about giving it to him...

Has PATFO even tried to have a meeting with nephew? Or is that too ridiculous? Shouldn’t they do their diligence? All the other teams are, even Mavs. Spurs can shed salary if needed, right?

Per Chris Haynes, Kawhi intends to meet with the Lakers and Clippers once free agency begins.

So if lakers strike out on KL, who are they getting? Butler seems like he is Rockets bound and kemba is going to boston. Durant isn't teaming up with Lebron. Kyrie? D-lo?
