Gordon is a big loss tbh. They would need to find someone to somewhat replace his role

Butler, CP3, and Harden. That’s a cluster waiting to happen.

Agreed. From all the reports, CP3 and Harden can't play with each other. Now you add Butler. Unless the NBA changes the rules to allow three balls on the court at once, this will only end in fights.

I imagine a trade could/would look something like:

    Houston receives: Jimmy Buckets

    Boston receives: Clint Capela

Philly receives: Eric Gordon, Marcus Smart, + draft pick
Almost looks like a trade engineered by the Celts.

Butler is expensive for someone who will spend a majority of his time standing in the corner while Harden goes one-on-one, tbh.

Would be a huge offseason for the Celts.

You don't think he'll be happy just being there to play defense? But my guess is he feels the same way as Chris Paul did when he had to stand in the corner on offense.

I don't know how you would even build the perfect team around Harden..ideally, it's him + shooters and defenders, but then you ultimately run into the same issues as Houston does every year in the playoffs..

The coach is irrelevant, as well, as they fired McHale and then brought in D'Antoni, yet they don't even use the latter's system/style..

You are thinking in basketball terms - not Morey’s MO.

Morey has the patience of a squirrel on meth. How many times has he torn the roster apart to no avail. That dude should have been fired years ago.
He actually is the type of GM a lot of Spurstalk posters seem to want. Lot's of churn and burn. Just do something dammit.

They team was at its peak in 2018. Gutting their roster even further to add Butler, who isn't even a great fit and will be relegated to watching harden dribble the clock out and chuck step back threes, isn't really that concerning. Theyll have to likely trade Gordon tucker or Capella to get it done. And then they're left with minimum contracts to fill the roster out.

Spurs really dodged a bullet with CP3 tbh
we may have dove safely out of the way of the CP3 bullet, but ended up taking a DDR hollow point just before being able to get cover behind a car

Team with terrible depth gets even more top heavy. Butler, Harden, and Paul all in the same locker room? Good times ahead.

someone on BSPN was saying its most likely Butler's camp applying pressure to PHI to offer the max salary + years to him

I'm betting PHI pays him, can never be sure though

You can't dodge a bullet when the muzzle is placed against your temple. A 40 grain 22 cal would take you out in that scenario. Don't even need a hollow point.

true but at least that bum isn't a locker room cancer and is only on the books for another year. CP3s making 40+ million on average thru 2022

He's like that guy in your organization that always has meetings because it looks like something is happening.
I hate those type of managers, tbh

JJ would work great in their system, but I don't think they can afford him as they are already out of money. And if he was taking less money, he'd probably just go to the Lakers who definitely could use him. But we are talking playing for the minimum because if the Lakers use that extra space for a third max deal, they won't have any money to fill out their roster.

If they lose both Capela and Gordon then we have to see who they target to replace Capela. Too soon to say anything at this point about their potential. Lets say they go after Brook Lopez, if they get him then they are the favorite to win the west imo.
Rumor has it that its DeAndre Jordan.

It looks like a net negative for Houston to me, even more reason to go all in on this season. As a bonus, things get tougher for nephew if he stays up north.
