I'm not saying the Lakers' pieces are good but it's actually upsetting that the Lakers was able to use those pieces to get AD then could get Kawhi.
Maybe the Spurs should've granted Kawhi's request and just sent him to the Clippers instead with multiple future picks involve.
What happened/could happen are:
- Sent Kawhi away from Los Angeles and got an underwhelming return from the Raptors
- Raptors won a championship with Kawhi
- Kawhi could sign with the Lakers
Maybe what the Spurs should do and what could happen are:
- Sent him to Los Angeles not named the Lakers but the Clippers with a decent return which includes a player, a 13th and 14th 2018 first round draft picks and future first round draft picks
- Clippers won't win a le but they got Kawhi
- Spurs could work on this upcoming off-season with Tobias Harris being a free agent
I know I'm kinda biased because we know the results already but Pop should've been opened with dealing atleast with the Clippers, it ain't Lakers anyway.
If Kawa was at Clips last season he just wins it there. Jerry would have strengthened the side mid season just like Ujiri did. That lot looked fairly decent against the Golden Fake tbh and with Kawawa and additions like Gasol, Kawhmichael hands Golden Fake their ASS in the WCF.

Which is totally fine and atleast it's not the Lakers. This would pissed of the Lakers and the Lakers' fans it that happened. If Kawhi went to Lakers this off-season, this will make the Spurs more a laughing matter in the league. If he leaves the Raptors, Raptors' fans won't be pissed because they knew he's possibly rental anyway and Kawhi gave them a championship already. Who do you think will be pissed if he signs with the Lakers? We know the answer already.
This. Its just my opinion, but I blame LeBron after he teamed up with Wade and Bosh. Since then it seems to me like all these guys wanna do is team up with other superstars. The NBA is starting to look like a grown-up AAU league. This is why to me MJ is the greatest. He wanted to destroy his compe ors, not join them.
