The NBA doesn't give a and neither do the small market owners since revenue is shared. Casuals just jump on the newest bandwagon too. It sucks but that's the reality.

I'd like to say I'd quit the NBA if another bull superteam formed but I'd probably stil watch my Spurs. Wouldn't watch many of the other games though.
Bro, min amount of casuals jump on bandwagons for teams that aren't from area...ie warriors, heat...you know guys like Gambit...but the real casuals...you know the ones that hardly-never follow the NBA types join in when there is buzz around the home, state, national (toronato)...ya you can survive with having superteams and a lot of tomato cans but eventually all that catches up

Even if another superteam is about to form we have to remind ourselves that injuries do happen. A team won the chip a few days ago because of that. Of course i'm gonna continue to watch the Spurs and a few other selective games.

The only real superteam in recent history was the Durant Warriors and they only won 2 les, it hasn't done anything to the NBA

Superteams are fine when there's compe ion..the 80s had several of them and everybody loved it..

This has to be the dumbest conspiracy theory I've ever heard, tbh. It would be a colossal waste of money on Ballmer's part. At the end of the day, the Clippers either sign these guys or they don't. Nothing Woj tweets out between now and signing day is going to change the outcome once the big names make their decisions.

Laker fans are just pushing this nonsense because they're furious that the Clippers are getting some positive buzz from the media for the first time ever. What they keep ignoring is that the Clippers are getting positive buzz because we have a great front office that has kept pulling off savvy moves.

Kawhi not doing anything, he is in the back of the car with his coloring book and happy meal because he was a good boy winning the championship. Uncle Dennis is the man behind the wheel of this vehicle.
You rally believe Kawhi isn’t doing anything? I bet Kawhi is loving all this

I honestly have no idea at this point. I do like our chances better now than I have ever since he made that shot against Philly, though.

All these rumors are media and team driven. Kawhi is out vacationing and enjoying his b-day. He barely talks as is and hates the media so you know he isn't leaking to them. Since his destination is a mystery it has caused the media to go into a frenzy speculating all these scenarios. This is probably ESPN's favorite time of the NBA season because it's drama filled and they can make up whatever BS they want

The 80's had Magic and the Lakers, Larry and the Celts, and Thomas and the Pistons all loaded and going at it. The 80's did not have Larry losing to the Lakers, and then running to play SF for them.. Or Thomas running to play PG for the Celts..

Kawhitter knows he'll never play a full season again. He's damaged goods with a limited shelf-life. that dude, I hope he does go to LA because they will have 0 dollars to fortify the rest of their roster. Good luck with that. Those 3 dudes will be battling to see who misses the most games. James dealt with his first injury-plagued season and now he'll get two teammates that can't stay healthy. Go on Kawhi - Do EXACTLY what you've been planning for years.
Yep maxed out on three players with Kuzma set to get paid next year. Lol.

They're gonna have a bench full of old vets taking league-minimum contracts.

So pathetic that Lakers just buy their success. With no bit of actual skill to put it all together.

if it wasn't for zaza then the spurs would be the kings of the basketball world...

they would've beaten durant's warriors, which would've sent them back to the drawing board... there really wasn't even other compe ion just a couple years ago. spurs would've demolished the cavs in the finals.

i had been wanting to see the kawhi & la / the spurs without tony... we got to for a bit and the spurs were up what, 28 points against the warriors? it's sad things went off a cliff after that.

kawhi & uncle d*** might've still wanted out but the spurs would've repeated if they hadn't asked for a trade before defending the '17 le.

It scares me that basically every great player in the league today is a pussy. Because the example they are setting for young guys is just that. Be a ing pussy. Don’t compete just be a ing pussy. This has gotten completely out of control. As Spurs fans one of the reasons we love Tim Duncan so much was his compe iveness, and his loyalty. Imagine after a couple of tough playoff losses, if he said I am joining Shaq, Kobe and the Lakers. I mean it’s ing insane what is going on right now in this league.

i really don't think every great player today is a pussy.

this is durant's fault. if you want to win now you will need help or be embarrassed. respect to td, totally. but if jason kidd went to join kobe and shaq then it wouldn't that unlikely for td to wanna join up with another big star.

    You're missing the point. ...
You're missing the point, and there is no way to explain anything to you, because you felt a little bump on the head, and now you are absolutely certain the sky is falling.

The reason the NFL is successful is because ...
    ... people like football.

With players forming super teams, the level of compe ion suffers to the point where only a couple of teams have an actual chance of winning the Chip...
Sure, I remember reading in some dusty history book about when the Celtics won 8 les in a row, and it totally destroyed professional basketball in the U.S. so that nothing like the old NBA even exists now.

    No, wait.

You base all your conclusions on your belief that the world began when the sun rose yesterday morning.

Why would casuals want to invest time, MONEY, and energy when they know their home team has no shot vs the latest superteam(s)...
All you're doing is trying to talk yourself out of buying a Keldon Johnson jersey.

... sure the diehards will still cheer for thier favorite team but the diehards alone can't sustain franchises...attendances goes down...merch sales take a hit...teams stop making profits...etc
But of course we can't be talking about the NBA because according to you the Celtics totally destroyed the NBA in 1966.

I am talking about the health of the overall game today. Don’t give a if the spurs lose badly the next 10 years. But if every great player thinks competing is a bad thing. Yeah the game is pretty much in a bad place.

Let me ask you a question? How exactly do you evaluate the legacy of a player in the game today? Because when it comes to players like Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, they did what they did with their teams and they busted their asses. Today all anybody wants to do is team up and stack the deck. I can’t evaluate a players legacy that way. KD was striking out in Oklahoma City. Then he goes to a stacked team in Golden State and wins. How does that advance the legacy of a player. Ewing Could have won championships had he been a complete and joined the Chicago Bulls.

Let me ask you a question. How much time do you spend watching the sports talking heads shows? Player legacy??

Go out into the fresh air and take a walk around the block sometime. It will be good for you.

What are you doing, auditioning to replace Stephen A. Smith?

You don’t seem to get it. The direction the league is heading is the worst possible direction. You need to look at it from a historical standpoint. If every great player in the league from basically 1960 until the present simply joined up and tried to stack the deck. How the do you evaluate the legacy of a player? Who is the top dog? All they do is stack the teams and try to outdo each other based on talent? It’s not about compe ion anymore. Jordan Has six NBA championships. I don’t think he would have 6 if Patrick Ewing, Reggie Miller, and Karl Malone all played on the same team. Do you get it now?
