I haven't looked at it, but one of the announcers said it. Or I didn't hear right

    Been there. Done it. Recently.

It was 7 RB - the announcer just reversed it. The Spurs may have the best-rebounding group of G's in the league.

Lonnie was like 8/12 from the field. Once he gets defense figured out, sky is the limit.
I don't think defense is really something you figure out. He's too active on defense (not in a good way) and overreacts to opponent's moves, putting him in terrible positions. He won't ever be much of a defender, imo.

Was it the same dude that said he came into the league with 1% bodyfat?

1% body fat? Sally Struthers would be collecting lunch money for him.

KJ didn't do much on offense, but he was great on D. When Ahearn got tired of Windler scoring, he assigned KJ to check him in the 2nd half. Windler proceeded to get maybe 2 more buckets the rest of the game off of broken plays. KJ erased him.

He'd die at 1%. Even bodybuilders only get down to like 5%.

Could anyone see us going with the current roster with some of the young guys added on without signing another aging vet?? I'd be willing to do that and see what they can do in a rebuilding year.

Isn't the roster full right now?

Barring a DDR trade I can definitely see the Spurs' rolling with what they have.

Weatherspoon isn't getting much mention from folks but he looked really good on defense and offense. He has a great feel for the game it seems.
Yeah he looked good and played like he belonged. So far making Spurs FO look like geniuses when it comes to drafting. He has the measurables(6'4 with 6'9 wingspan), and he is playing like a natural point guard. He kind of sputtered towards the end of the game, but I like what I saw. I think he would be better defensively then Patty and Bryn but that bar is not to hard to surpass lol.

Liked what I saw out of shaman. A few times he lost his man on d, but it wasn’t too bad imo. Offense, missed some parts of the game but he didn’t look like he forced things. Some of those that he did Force were within the flow of the offense if that makes sense. Didn’t see much of KJ though. But damn.. Lonnie’s J looks smooth.

After getting Gay signed, and adding Carroll, the Spurs have 15 on the roster. So unless they trade Metu for another guard, this is probably it.

You can never have too many guards.

Well, he spent 4 years in college, so it is expected that he has a more polished game as compared to 19 year olds like Johnson and Samanic.

I also hear he has the athleticism too. Do the Spurs have him locked up in a 2-way?

Wow this game got me hyped! Yes it's summer league but the main guys we're looking at had ample time to showcase what they can do. Not sure if it was from Spurs brass or if it was Coach Ahearn that let our main guys play. I don't think we really care about anyone on this squad except the #19, #29, Lonnie and the 2nd rounder. Eubanks played about as well as i thought he would but we all know what the guy has. It'll be up to Spurs brass to determine if this guy will make the big club.

#1 The big winner here was Samanic. This guy can definitely move for a 6-11 guy. The guy has a certain way about him that tells me he's not going to just fall back and be the tall white guy euro not ready for the big time. From the get go you can see that the guy is very coordinated. That's huge for a big guy especially in today's game. I learned a new term today which the announcer pointed out by calling him a "grab-and-go". That alone can separate him from the status quo. Also the guy was not afraid to go at some of the defense and try to dunk. The bad thing was that he traveled a few times and couldn't bulldoze anyone in the paint. He should develop a fade-away in the post which would keep the defense honest.

#2 Don Johnson was a pest as reputed to be. The guy certainly gives the effort and if he can stay away from dumb fouls... can get some PT.

#3 I don't think Lonnie has much left to prove. Clearly the guy can play and is back from his injury. Will Pop let him play?

#4 The 2nd Rounder. Had some 2nd rounder type hustle moments but also some low pick type dumb-ass turnovers.

All in all I'm super excited to see what these guys can do from here on. Samanic (we need a better name to call him BTW) seems to be the one that showed the most in my opinion with his fluidity and semi-means-streak. Of course the inverse of all this can happen tomorrow.

Loonie is a bonehead player and has the style of a playground player, would never become a positive pro...

Oh stop that nonsense. Mitc , Russell, Iverson have similar style. It's about putting it altogether.

If I recall he was REALLY thin - didn't he play for NC State on their national championship team? I can't remember that far back.

I think LW can be A LOT better at D and not burn as much energy at the same time. Just stay in front of your guy. That's what the coaching staff is paid to do. It should get better with time. He does not excel on defense right now no doubt.
