their late first rounders pan out at an astounding rate. its really been their FA game, and more specifically, the loyalty contracts which draw deserved criticism. that and pop's rotations
Big names either don't want to live in San Antonio, or don't want to play in Pop's system.

The former pretty much speaks for itself...I love SA, but it is far from a fun or flashy city. Do you think NBA players really want to hang out at the Riverwalk or Pearl District?

For the latter...the system obviously has shown it works over the years, but it still requires players to sacrifice stats for the team, be accountable, and give 100% on defense. There are a lot of star players who simply aren't willing to do that, and so San Antonio gets a pass for them.

We could hardly recruit big names when we were legit contenders and had Duncan...I can't imagine how hard of a sell it is for the FO now.

Spurs were fortunate to have had superstars who were apparently fine with SA in Iceman, DRob, and TD over the years. Obviously that wasn’t the case with Nephew. In any event the former were exceptions and the latter is generally the rule in the league. Market size matters so knocking the Spurs for not hauling in free agents is kind of silly and hey they were still able to land LaMarcus.

Draft wise we do have some lucky rabbits foot or something. Besides random euro stashes that didn’t work out we have been decent. And hard to argue with looking at euros since we got TP and Manu that way. Just some of them really aren’t interested in leaving Europe

as painful as the loyalty contracts are, it still shows future FAs that they won’t be left hanging and that they will be taken care of.

spurs best at developing young players from a long term standpoint pov

then again they are also the best at burying them in the first year, when they have shown they got game, popa doesnt play rookies in playoffs first year...fck that pos who cant get over himself cause his not the best at adjusting to mismatches

The FA stuff is a San Antonio problem not a PopaGOAT and RC problem. The loyalty contract criticism is fair. It's one thing to do it for the Big 3 but another thing entirely to do it for Wombat and Gasol.

But Pop and the Spurs front office is sh!t, MB. Just ask any one of our resident basketball gurus is this place. PATFO are just a bunch drunk idiots, riding Tim Duncan’s coattails, even after retirement.
True. You’d never know the Spurs have only missed the playoffs in 4 of the 46 seasons since inception in 1973 by reading some of these morons’ brain droppings.
Even the biggest of critics have conceded that drafting is PATFO's biggest strength. Free agency OTOH...
