Big names either don't want to live in San Antonio, or don't want to play in Pop's system.

The former pretty much speaks for itself...I love SA, but it is far from a fun or flashy city. Do you think NBA players really want to hang out at the Riverwalk or Pearl District?

For the latter...the system obviously has shown it works over the years, but it still requires players to sacrifice stats for the team, be accountable, and give 100% on defense. There are a lot of star players who simply aren't willing to do that, and so San Antonio gets a pass for them.

We could hardly recruit big names when we were legit contenders and had Duncan...I can't imagine how hard of a sell it is for the FO now.

In any event the former were exceptions and the latter is generally the rule in the league. The FA stuff is a San Antonio problem not a PopaGOAT and RC problem. The loyalty contract criticism is fair. It's one thing to do it for the Big 3 but another thing entirely to do it for Wombat and Gasol.
