If KY does a 1+1, the circus starts all over again next year. I don't think Gasol and Lowry will have much left in 12 or 24 months.

Everything has broken right for the prick to continue this false narrative that he's some Jordan/James level player. The Bucks lost Brogdon, the 76ers lost Butler (gained Horford, but the former was moreso what they needed), the depth of the free agent market has dissipated, which means the Lakers will be left thin . . . meanwhile, he has a clear path to another championship, with no other big star to split the credit with.
Obviously no one could have predicted the Durant and Thompson injuries (though the Warriors were overdue), but it's still unthinkable that the Spurs put this puke in this situation for an F package.
So he knew exactly what he wanted. Interesting for someone to force his way out of SA to go home to LA only to end up screwing both those teams. Loyalty tests for 2 years from now? Who does like that?
Supposedly an agent told Mark Jones of ESPN that #2 is staying in Toronto.
If the Spurs had not traded #2 last summer, he would already be in LA. He would not even know where Toronto is located.
If he truly believed in the Raptors, he signs a five year deal. I don't think he wants to commit beyond 2 years. He clearly did not commit to his last 5 year deal.
^This is completely counter-intuitive![]()
Worth it to not have another Warriors-level superteam, tbh.
Kawhi staying in Toronto significantly balances the parity of the league.
Soo he didnt really want la!? Or was tor just that awesome?
That's a really good point. Pop's main goal was to keep him East and preferably away from Lakers. The fact that he is (reportedly) even considering Toronto has to be viewed as a success in that regard.
NOBODY knows but Uncle at this point.
Never mind. He edited it.
The only person that knows what Kawhi is going to do is Uncle Dennis. Not even Kawhi tbh![]()
He just won a ring there, and they are laying out the red carpet for him. He has gotten a taste of what it means to be "the man" for his own team and a whole country, albeit a frozen tundra.
Meanwhile, sure the Lakers got Davis, but they are still a dysfunctional mess of a front-office, have a brand new coaching staff, and don't really have a team to speak of outside of LeBron and AD. Kawhi has to know that if he goes to the Lakers, he will be viewed as "Lebron's sidekick" ala DWade, even if he does the heavy lifting. And if things don't go well, he will get to shoulder the blame.
Also, you'd have to think he has taken note of the blowback Durant got for going to the Warriors, and ultimately why he left the Warriors.
If he just wants easy rings, the Lakers are the obvious choice.
He's the deal. If you have deep concerns about your long term health and the condition of your quads and knees, why would you sign a two year deal? You would want the additional guaranteed years with much more money. That's where I'm going on that. Instead, he is keeping the powder dry if he goes short term. A lot of money has already been left on the table. He was offered $215MM by the Spurs last year that would have been fully guaranteed.
i never really bought he wanted to team with lebron
Even if hes hurting tor will let him call the shots and rest as needed .dude wants that supermax in 2 years
Another thing I'd do if I'm the Clippers and Lakers and I get the sense that he's wasting our time, I'd call up Green and offer him an insane amount on a 2 year deal. Like, so much that he can't refuse (particularly with the Lakers, where he could still contend). Make the path for S bag to another championship more difficult.
I don't for a second think the sociopath gives a about the Raptors or anyone for that matter. This is about the path the gives him the combination of easy + credit to continue to forge this fake, inflated "legacy" he's building. Plus, he can get more money by signing for 2 years, then opting out.
$190MM (or $150MM with a player option) is a lot of money. Who knows what he will be like in two years. He was dragging his legs pretty hard after playing 50% of his available games the last two years. No doubt he would be the GM again next year in Toronto like he was this year. They jump as high as he tells them to up there.
We'll see, stuff changes quickly. Of course the group looks smart right now, but the only constant is change.
He made up his mind a long time ago.. it's just that winning with Raptors was not foreseen neither was foreseen the mess that became the Lakers with magic departure and all the drama around it..
If he does not sign with the Lakers, they are going to be the only ones to blame.. Kawhi wants to play for them since forever and they may find a way to screw it up![]()
True. When does the CBA run out? Perhaps Kawhi could benefit from a future shortened season. He would probably be on board with that.
The question for the group is like the old song "Do You Believe in Magic".
From what I understand today, the Group was interviewing LAL personnel individually to see who of telling the truth and who is lying. Kind of like an episode of "Law and Order".
I never wavered. Thought the puke would stay the entire time because it's probably everything his uncle brainwashed him into thinking he should want. Look how his profile has skyrocketed.
Spurs are an embarrassment. Raptors were always a Curry/Durant injury away from ringing; they should have known that and that if they did, he'd likely stay. They also knew he was fine physically. No excuse for giving him away and giving the Raptors 3 years worth of him and with such watered down compe ion, a good chance at 2 championships. Pathetic.
Last year pretty much everybody said, Dubs got it, cancel the regular season. They lost albeit from injury, but that’s part of the game. That team has been playing championship basketball for the last 5 years. I don’t care what people say, but LeBron/Davis/Kawhi does not guarantee a ring. They would need shooters, depth, a great PG to align everyone, in their 1st year, plus all 3 are prone to injuries. Next year when the dust settles, and when FA starts bringing better role players, yes. You need 8-9 good/great players to win it all.
