its no coincidence that LA and SF have big homeless populations. they're massively populated cities with absurdly high costs of living. you basically need to be a professional to get by. or be DINK (dual income no kids).



you're not going to pass a law that "fixes" that in one fell swoop. however, CA does need accommodate such a large population with better zoning. there are way too many single family households being built as opposed to apartments and condominiums. a city with 4 million people should have way more apartments than LA does. almost 50% of land in los angeles (including residential, commercial, public, etc) is zoned for single family households. 3/4 of all residential zones are single family or duplex only. looks like this.



so yeah, fantastic if you can afford it. gavin newsom doesnt have the authority to change LA's zoning. if im not mistaken, that power is left to the cities. and who do you think are the donors in LA/SF political game? the people living in apartments? or the people living in single family homes...

I don't agree. He has had injury concerns since the second he came into the league and could want the security of a long term deal. I'm also not sure the Lakers are going to be willing to go into tomorrow morning without having signed anyone since it'll really put them against that 9AM PST clock when it'll be time for them to complete the Davis trade (which kills off around $6 or $7 million from their cap slot). That's the thing. It's not just Frisco or LA. It's the Central Valley. It's in the northernmost parts of the state. It's in Fresno. It's in Calexico. There's no denying how rotten this state is.

I drove up to Boise to visit the family and the office. Drove through parts of NV, OR and ID that had no real signs of any development since the 50s. Piss poor but somewhat populated areas. No signs of homeless epidemics despite how poor these places are. It really drove something home.

We do just fine and live here with little to no financial constraints. Got caught in credit when mijo was born, but didnt need to. But with the income we make between us, we'd be balling elsewhere or letting the savings grow.

But owning a business here and having to relocate due to policy that had no real backing to it and dealing with the bull here was 1 angle to seeing how awful and careless this state is. We still planned on keeping California open and my brother didnt want to move to Boise, but around Xmas 17, we had ZERO EDD claims and paid all of our EDD payments every quarter. What do you get from the state for being a model employer? Why a $20k "pay your share" EDD tax bill because the state is so in debt to the Feds for all of the funds they borrowed and continue to borrow, to pay unemployment claims. So, despite whatever tens of thousands we pay for EDD "insurance" and having zero claims, Brother man had to give them a $20k check because we try harder than most to keep our guys employed. And this isnt the IRS...no extensions or payment plans. Due in full. Due before Jan.19 2018. What message does that send? Pay all your taxes on time., in full, keep your employees working and still giving them raises onto of the Govt. mandated raises and we are rewarded with brazen theft.

More than 250k have lost their jobs California due to the wage increase per NFIB. BUT, 250K jobs didnt disappear, they went to bordering states where small business can actually grow and succeed. Over 25k businesses didnt close down, they relocated.

The complete destruction of the SMB in California is where a lot of my personal hatred of the state government comes I and then you figure in all of the pain you hear from your employees and friends and people of lower financial standing that you know and see their struggles.

And then you see the stupidity and abhorrence of this government and what they do and dont be it whom they take care of, whom they act in favor of and how open they are with their corruption. The annual raises. The PGE board is loaded with state Democrats and hence the apathy towards PGE's destruction of the state because of the fires their negligence create. The theft of the states water supply and sale to local municipalities because the elitists in Smog City needing green lawns is more important than the farms producing crops to Gov. Brown and now Brown Jr. has his tunnel projects that no clear plan except a tax plan to pay for it. And the ing train to nowhere.


I can continue my fanatical rant ala Boots or SpursHomer, but unlike them, I will admit that Trump has done nothing to worsen my standing in life or business. I dont know anyone personally who can say that, even those who hate him. There arent many in my state who can say that about this state Government.

But they're smarter than him, media-friendly and have done this as their chosen careers. They're better criminals than him.

Like I said, I'm fine here. It's just seeing and hearing what the media reports doesnt jibe with what's going on. I've lived in Texas, California and Hawaii, Texas and Hawaii before here. I understand the high costs of living (Hawaii) but what they say and what they do dont jibe and their corruption and conflicts of interest are so damn brazen.
