Mainly because Marcus Morris can actually play the SF full-time if he had to. Gay and Carroll (no way). Still a little thin against larger lineups. Eubanks has looked pretty solid so far tho.

I couldn't call Bertans' playoff shooting elite, but I'm sure there are some great excuses for that.

Not a big enough sample size to call Bertans' playoffs shooting not elite. With more minutes and games his % will surely get to his normal average. But anyways, I already said I'm cool with the move overall and I understand PATFO: they signed Carroll when they thought they couldn't get Morris. Then the Morris signing got possible and they couldn't bring the Carroll signing down. I'm sure had they signed Morris earlier, they wouldn't have gone for Carroll.

Quick thoughts:

-Marcus Morris is a really good fit as starting power forward. Can space the floor, adds toughness, does well against those long wings.

-You can play Carroll and Morris together at the forward spots. Both are flexible and able to play 3 or 4.

-I didn't think the Spurs would actually sign a Morris twin but you can't question the talent. Marcus Morris was very likely the best possible pure fit at the MLE.

-That Morris was even eligible at the MLE is surprising. He basically just fell through the cracks, it seems. I think it was Lowe who was predicting that he could get $80 million or more this offseason.

-Bertans will be missed for his elite stretching of the court but he's being replaced by two players who can shoot threes and do more than just that on the court. With this option on the table, the Spurs would have been dumb to pass it up.

I’m interested to see if Carroll’s 3rd year is fully guaranteed or not. Per the CBA, only the first year had to be guaranteed. If 3rd year is non-guaranteed or a partial, it would quote the coup for PATFO.

Bertans gets bodied everytime he's on the floor, couldn't play defense, played only one position adequately, and was inconsistent. Carroll, if just average, fills a bigger need and gives you versatility.

The basketball team overall is better with Carroll and Morris over Bertans, even if you feel Bertans has more talent.

Watching the ECSF this year i was thinking at times how great it would be to have a player like Morris in the roster and how well he would fit and i couldn't see any way we would have the money or that he would pick the Spurs.
