As of July 3rd, The Football Brainiacs still believe that DT Vernon Broughton is headed to UT when he makes a decision.
“I mean my family can come down, like 2 hours out. They have nice facilities and everything. I’m good with Coach Giles, Coach Herman – I’m really good with them.”
With S Bryson Washington headed to OU and S Xavion Alford trending to Alabama, Inside Texas mentioned two guys the staff may take harder looks at.

Rumors suggest Mookie will choose Ohio State, and probably continue taking visits.
I'm no longer impressed with Mookie, this kid is taking this process too lightly, if he picks Ohio State good for him. I'm ready to move on. Vernon Broughton, Ramson and Robinson none of them will likely go to Texas, but they have taken this process like mature adults and though I really want them to go to Texas, I wish all of them nothing but the best.
For me, it's hard to care when someone commits to several different schools. His commitment means nothing.
I keep reading this quote, which is semi-encouraging, but then I remember that College Station is even closer to their place than Austin is, by about 45 minutes or more.
Obviously, it's probably not any significant factor: it's just that if distance is important to him, we don't get any advantage over a&m in that department.
Hopefully, he truly is a big Giles guy. That he supposedly was pretty close to committing to A&M though despite all the time built up with our guys is disconcerting to me.
2021 WR Shadrach Banks (Galena Park North Shore)
I probably would've picked A&M for him, but now I'm not sure since they didn't take Banks' cousin, 2021 QB Dematrius Davis.

Per the 247Sports Crystal Ball, the latest buzz has him landing with the Ducks. Of the six predictions on his profile, five of them have him landing at Oregon. One other picks has him choosing the Huskies.
Say it aint so we have heard otherwise.
Lie to me.
Again.
If you must.
Per his Instagram, S Chris Thompson, Jr. of Duncanville will be committing the first week of August.

Leon O’neal has to be one of the most insecure kids I’ve ever come across. He seriously doesn’t understand how this only sheds more light on the quality of player Sterns is.
Texas will send QB Sam Ehlinger, WR Collin Johnson, S Brandon Jones, DE Malcolm Roach, LB Jeffrey McCulloch and C Zach Shackelford to Big 12 media days next week.
Hit play for full list.
Sterns response
Nice we’re finally to the point where our oldest guys are also the most talented, what should be. There for awhile we were just sending seniors whether they were starters or just role players.
Thats a big boy response! Go on Caden! I liked how one of O’Neal’s responses was that he wasn’t a starter because he backed up a Dallas Cowboys aka Donovan Wilson. Out of curiosity I looked into Wilson’s numbers at aggie and Caden did better numbers in his first year than Wilson had at any point in his aggie career...now that there is funny!
As of right now, Sterns is a first round draft pick while Oneal is an unknown. Truth is Oneal wanted to be a Longhorn but was picked over when Texas took Foster, Sterns and Overshown. I bet Oneal goes to bed at night and dreams of Sterns.
Inside Texas said this morning that Broughton is a coin flip, but the report read more like it was letting UT fans down easy.
They believe Broughton does truly care about scheme despite saying publicly that he doesn't, and he already has a trip to College Station planned for when the dead period ends.
They do give Texas some hope if he decides to visit Austin again before making a decision this month.
Speaking of defensive linemen, Inside Texas gives UT about a 10% chance to land DE Princely Umanmielen of Manor.
He's likely headed to A&M or OU.

Hopefully the staff knows they need to move on.
