JaMychal Green committed to a deal already. Oubre is pretty much the only FA forward who can shoot the 3, and who has a salary that makes any kind of sense. Last I heard, Phoenix had extended him a QO, and they're carrying a cap hold of close to $10M until he signs somewhere. If he doesn't want to be there, I'm sure he doesn't want to bring them an offer sheet they can match. So a S&T deal makes sense, I guess. I just don't see any other FA's that come close to making sense.

If it's the S&T for Morris, to also get Lyles, the 3P shooting forward must be Morris. Lyles was absolutely terrible from the arc last year.

There's a reason the Nuggets are letting him walk at 23. He's not good. He's never been good. There's a reason Utah pushed him out. I don't know why this board is suddenly lusting after this guy.

The Suns announced that they signed Rubio a few hours ago. They have to make a roster move to accommodate that signing, if they want to keep Oubre's $10M cap hold. One more thing that makes a S&T deal to move him more believable.

I mean, SA doesn’t need cap space for any FA left IMO. So it’s not a big trade for DeRozan or LMA. If they dump Beli to open up a roster spot vs getting a player and Morris is not S&T (which seems unlikely at this point) then SA only has the min.

Either BOS can still S&T Morris or it’s not for signing a FA but trading for an actual player. We shall see.

i dont know if morris was ever actually renounced. the thought was boston had to renounce him to sign kemba, but they ended up making kemba-rozier a sign and trade. perhaps that means they didnt renounce morris (dont think ive seen an article explicitly conforming morris was renounced). but still, it would mean morris would have to have a 3 year deal, not a 2 year deal like we've seen reported

Yeah, Lyles is just a perimeter shooting power forward (as OP said was the target) who happened to be renounced today. I don't think anyone wants him specifically, tbh. He's young enough that you can stick him at the end of the bench and see what happens in a couple years.
