    "Money jealousy"? The is that?

Dude, did you even get what I said?

It's not about jealousy or whatever the you said it was. It's about the Spurs being as good as possible. And the Spurs could be a whole lot better if instead of having 12 millions per year going to "an end of the bench guy" they could spend it on a real 12 millions per year guy like a Robert Covington or Danny Green. Simple as that. I want the Spurs to be as good as possible. Do you get it now? It's really not a difficult concept to get, tbh.

Were just bozos on a message board daf

I hate mills contract as much as anyone but their young guards need mentoring too. Not just basketball wise but also in life. I believe patty is a good role model for them, a leader if you will. They are still kids after all.

Just look at what happened to LAL. Lots of lottery talent, and nothing to show for it. Just a terribly ran organization, top to bottom. Now only kuz is left from their young core all in the name of winning now. This is one of the reason why the spurs are admired, they develop their players, on and off the court.

Marco doesn’t make that much. Might be the Spurs moving him to open a roster spot for training camp hopefully for Thomas Robinson. We could use his size on the bench.

Spurs need a 3-point Shooting Center more than anything. Or someone who can play PF/C

I think SA is more looking to move Beli either to try to get something back for a non-rotation player or as a favor to Marco. As mentioned before, they have six guards for four spots, and that's not counting Weatherspoon on his two-way. They should have the requisite depth to handle a rash of injuries. Still, I'm not as keen to make a move like this unless the benefit is just too good to pass up (like getting out of Beli's deal entirely). He still has value as a depth shooter with championship experience and excellent off-ball movement. I'd hold onto Beli even just so he can mentor Walker on how to get open

I'm late to the thread, so I'm sure someone has already said this but, didn't we already have the highest % three-point shooting forward in the game. And spurs gave him away for nothing

    ^Not really, Poop.

White as the sixth man, Gay as your backup PF, and Carroll the backup SF makes your bench pretty strong.

    That's a very balanced team.
I do agree it makes your bench strong...and I also think eventually Lonnie replaces whoever at the 2 as the starting 2 guard...

But this is less about what makes sense and more about how Pop coaches and what the spurs have to find out...Pop called Derrick the second most important player on the team and pretty much attributed the 1 - 7 rodeo road trip to him not playing...factor in what Lonnie is doing in summer league probably forces Pop to give him some minutes as a backup...means if you move White to the bench Mills is pretty much out the rotation and I just don't see that happening...

The spurs also have to find out sooner rather than later if Murray, White, Walker can all play together...and I expect this is the year they find out...

Remember this is Pop we are talking about dude has never really had conventional rotations...and is mainly the reason we got 6 guards in the first place...

I've been saying the same thing all along so we're on the same page. I just hope the moves/rumors we've seen lately signal a change in Pop.

If they're looking for a forward who can shoot, they should have just kept Bertans and used the MLE on Morris straight up.
They couldn't since they had already come to an agreement with Carroll. It's between Bertans and Morris and I'd rather have Morris.

If a sign and trade for Morris that would leave the MLE available and also lock in Morris for at least 2 years in SA.

    Murray/white
    demar/walker
    iguadala/carrol
    morris/gay
    aldridge/poodle

if the spurs traded for iggy or signed I’d like to see this type of lineup.

In terms of understanding basketball, and Spurs basketball especially, Beli is a top asset. The young guys have so much to learn from him.

But he mentioned he will be looking for one more contract in the NBA before semi-retiring to play in Italy. So I guess the FO will want to make him a solid and send him to a East contender where he can find good minutes.

Eric B heavy breather. Don’t flatter yourself too much. No one would care if you didn’t post when smarter posters like MoSpur and timvp can give us all the details. Just go back to quoting your butt buddy Marcus Bryant like you always do.

Miami has a trade exception (Wayne Ellington) matching his salary. If they trade for Westbrook (Dragic+Waiters etc.) as rumored, maybe they wan't him...
