If Morris doesn't sign I think the Spurs have a shot legally to at least fight for the exception in dealing Bertans. There is plausible damage there. But I don't think the Spurs will pursue something like that.

The difference after taxes is only 1.2 million. There should be no reason at all for him to sign with NY. Technically he could opt out and Spurs can resign him and give him the additional money the next year

I believe Carlos Boozer's agency dropped him after he broke his word, and what he did wasn't close to this bad. This is a serious breach of what an agency should do.

pelinka resigned as his agent, because he didnt want to lose the respect of GM's around the league, as somebody who may advise his client to pull such shenanigans. but he has no legal obligation or fiduciary duty to do so.
