Not only did Kawhi sit out and hide from them, but his team managed to ultimately make him look like the good guy and portray the Spurs as the bad guys, despite them taking the high road and not dragging it out
They did the right thing by Kawhi, yet were STILL portrayed as the bad guys while he was heralded

Better/Worse must mean something different to you. Spurs have 5 rings in 6 Finals appearances, been to the playoffs 20+ consecutive years. Making the 2nd round isn't notable.
