I imagine that could be what Carrol meant when he said he let his wife pick his next team. If it were narrowed down to San Antonio and Milwaukee she made the right choice.

The contract is fine, and the extra $1.35M partial guarantee isn't that big of a deal. It could even be a good thing if he plays well here. It just pisses me off that the third year only got there to accommodate a guy who reneged.
Not Carroll's fault that Morris and Rich Paul are .
Never said it was Carroll's fault. Why would anyone think it was Carroll's fault? Why do so many dildos here think they need to correct something that nobody said?
It pisses me off that the Spurs had to make a move that wasn't their original design, to accommodate a guy who reneged. Its pretty simple.
Carroll actually said in an interview that he renegotiated his deal with the Spurs cause they said they were bringing guys in {Marcus Morris} so he welcomed the move to land Morris. Seems like he has already bought in to the Spurs way
Kudos to this guy being a team player![]()
Just a shame that he ended up doing so in order for the Spurs to bring in Trey Lyles.

Reminds me of the Spurs that made this team great. Hopefully some of that rubs off on other players.
I think there's a good chance that he has a resurgence on the Spurs
Might as well be 60, tbh.
I mean, he'll be solid for us this coming season and we couldn't come away empty handed in the offseason but that doesn't mean he isn't an old .
Looks like the black dude from the American Ninja movie.
how generous of a 32 year old to add another year to his deal while increasing his salary
its not like he stood to benefit from 2021 free agency
Because it was a S&T, it has to be three years. They didn't 'add' a year, just pushed $1.5M of the already agreed upon salary to the third year.
Well he is a upgrade to Cunningham and Poindexter so happy about that.
they originally had agreed signed him with MLE funds. he wasn't obligated to facilitate their decision to amend it to a S&T. nor did he out of the kindness of his heart. he got more years/money than originally agreed to. nothing to do with team spirit/culture
ing love the first 2
Not exactly. Several things wrong there, but the biggest is that the $1.5M is the guaranteed portion of the third year - that's if the Spurs cut him loose. If he plays the third year, he'll make much more than the original deal.
Not saying it's a bad deal, just talking about the facts of the deal. Originally it was a 2/$13M deal. Then they made it a 3/$21M deal (rough numbers), but only $15M guaranteed. He got a full third year at roughly the same price as the first two, but only collects $1.5M of it if the Spurs dump him.
He didn't do anything. He didn't take advantage of the Spurs, and he didn't do anything to help them out. They needed to change the deal with him to make Morris' deal work out. So the Spurs had to throw another year at him, and he said, "Sure."

i agree that he didn't do anything dirty at all. i'm just sayin, people claiming his agreement to amend the deal shows that he has bought into the team culture is kinda silly. the guy didnt give anything up by changing the deal to what he did. it wasn't some benevolent gesture he made.
theres a reason the spurs initially only decided to offer him 2/13.5 instead of 3/21
He did help them out; the second part of the deal just fell through. To say he didn’t do anything to help them out isn’t true as trivial as it may sound.
He'll be solid for sure. It'll be a pickup when we are in the depths of the season where we say, we were glad to have signed him.
He did help them out. What if he and his wife initially only planned to try San Antonio out for 1 year and decline the player option to play in a new city next season? Instead he now has to stay for at least 2 seasons. That could be a big deal for someone and their family if that’s the case. I have no way of knowing this but it’s still a possibility.
