Here's a little treat for you guys on this Sunday afternoon during the off season. The season that started it all!

I finally found my old VHS copy of this, and decided to digitize it and upload to youtube for everyone to enjoy. Enjoy the nostalgia!

McCombs can go off for killing the trade for Barkley back in 92. And then replacing Strickland with Vinny Del Negro. Cheap mother er.

It's easy to forget just how beautiful it was to watch David and Sean both. I always regret the year Sean spent in Detroit, especially in retrospect knowing that his prime was going to be cut short.

Thanks for taking the time to digitize that and post it for us. It was fun to watch, for sure.

I remember how excited I was that the Spurs got Terry mings. If his knees had held up David might of gotten closer to that ring, pre-Duncan. He had a pretty complete game, and fit in well next to David & Sean.

Awesome vid, thank you for uploading and posting it.

It was humbling to hear Greg Simmons mention Pop and RC's name at the 8:15 mark. What franchises have ever had that kind of continuity? I know both of those guys spent a couple of seasons away from the team, but that's still 28 years of service.

What was this supposed package for Barkley?

None of you Spergs even mentioning Willie Anderson, he was great. Better than Sean. His decay was more impactful than trading for this and not trading for that or mings getting injured in an offseason pick up game. He is one of the greatest spurs "what if's" along with Johnny Moore.
I’m not familiar with his story, what happened his stats looked good but he fell off a cliff quickly.

It was an amazing group of young talent- but far from stable. While the end of the season was disappointing, the future looked very bright.
    DRob
    Sean
    Rod Strickland
Willie (As mentioned- a forgotten talent)
A hall of fame coach- (in retrospect maybe not the best choice)
All 24 and under with mings in his prime.
3 years later VDN is starting at point guard and the Tark was coaching. It all fell apart through injuries, bad behavior and questionable FO moves.

Didn't Willie Anderson have issues with chronic shin splints, or something? That seems to be what I remember.

Anyone catch this at the starting montage. I thought the story was a firm came up with the slogan in 1999. This fan should be chasing them for some credit

Wow, that brings back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing. I like how they included the 80s Cinemax soft-core porn music, too. Just really gets you in the feels.

I remember he was selected 10 overall and then won rookie of the year...had a complete game and I was thinking at the time that he and Sean could have been wonderful together as probably the best nba wings duo for years to come. I don't remember what's happened then and what kind of Injury Willie suffered (I seeked for some informations but found nothing)...but was something in the legs that changed completely his strenghts as a basketball player and took him on a fast decline...

Yeah. Had a metal rod out in his shin at one point. If I remember correctly, they were so frail at one point that he broke, or severely injured himself running his shin into the side of a bed.
