We have David Beatty coming. He will lock down Dallas.

Milroe and JQJ have been our best recruiters in the 2020 and 2021 classes. They have helped us in Dallas and Houston. Now I want us to get Samples back so we can close the deal with a few more top Dallas kids and take away blOwU recruiting advantage in that area.

Make it to the playoffs and we can remove all the aggy talk about the SEC, win a national championship and we can lock out LSU Bama and all the other top schools from the top tier Texas kids.

Honestly we get the offensive line we are looking at in 2021 and we can do just that.
I was hopeful we could hold onto Samples long enough for him to eventually take over the WR coaching position once Mehringer decides to move on. Love what Mehringer has done and all his players seem to like his coaching but seems that every offseason he gets looks for other jobs so there’s no telling when he could bounce. When it does happen I would think Samples would be an option.

We have 3 coaches coaching TEs and Wrs, if we lost one I'm guessing we don't go after another one and just add to the defensive staff. A DT coach that can really recruit would do wonders for Giles. I don't want to lose giles, but it's obvious he needs help recruiting.

My guess is Tim Beck will be the first coach to be offered a job as a head coach on our staff, and when that happens Beaty will take over. He is most qualified for the job. Samples would be great as a RB or TE coach, or WR but I think we would have to lose both for him to make it back to Austin.

Im sorry man but, huh? Every recruit that he’s been on this year, we’ve gotten. Broughton is the best in the state and we got him. Collins is second best in the state and we got him. Umanmielen is probably 3rd and we won’t get him but that has more to do with the fact that we got Broughton. Every interview that was done with those kids speaks glowingly of Giles and the effects he had on the recruits and their families. He’s also having to work against everybody telling these kids they’re just going to serve as gap fillers rather than stat killers under that 3-4 defense. Giles is good.

You must have forgotten the Danielle Hunter, K’Lavon Chaisson, DeMarvin Leal years. Seems like the first time in God knows when where he’s been able to land the 1st priority DL.

Giles is receiving help from other assistants, support staff, etc which everyone is thankful for.

The same can be said for almost every other coach on the staff. Drayton backed into a RB last year. Mehringer did what recently? Herb Hand has proven himself but what were they thinking before that? Naivar is one of the best we got but he got beat out on jaylon Jones this year and that kid is going to A&M. Lol. Can’t say anything bad about Beck because we’ve gotten A+ QBs every year but that has more to do with Herman. Orlando has his hands full right now. Why all the hate for Giles? That’s recency bias and honestly he’s done good this year.

Yeah that was frustrating. So was the Leal fumble. And it’s fair to put that on Giles. My whole argument for Giles isn’t that he’s a great recruiter. He’s a good coach and all of the staff is responsible for the work that goes into recruiting bc they’re all getting help.

Justin Flowe getting a lot of CBs to Clemson. Never really felt like we stood much of a shot there but still would’ve been nice to get him on campus and give ourselves a punchers chance.

Article on Evans. It’s never a good idea to dump on 16-18 year old boys but at what point does his personality outweigh this talent? Any school would love to have him but I wouldn’t be mad if we lost out completely.

247 said in their stampede that USC is still very much in it and that the family prefers him closer to home. Said it’s not an open and shut case for Texas.

Hopefully Wiltfong knows something they don’t.

Angry boy and he’s playing a team sport with other people.
He may need to go on the chess circuit.

He still looking at and is unsure of himself, but there’s a big world around him.
A culture fit based on this article, absolutely not. Football is an incredibly cruel sport to the body so he might really need to rethink what he wants to do. Use the school for the scholarship, slowly get out of football while finding something at college that really suits you.

    Stampede cliffs:

-Bijan: Don’t get too confident with it. Texas was assumed the obvious destination based on previous visits but USC is very much in the picture because of proximity, (source on this came from Arizona). Drayton told Jeff Howe last week that UT will “absolutely” find a system-fit back.

-Milroe is an alpha type leader and great recruiter. Expect another few commitments by the fall but also expect it to slow down. (No reason given for the slow down. Maybe just bc the staff doesn’t want to get too ahead of itself with sop res but that’s a guess.)

-LV Bunkley-Shelton: got in late Friday night so didn’t workout at the camp (as Floss posted). Very good visit for Texas. Him and Mehringer have built a relationship over the past two months that’s picked up lately. Family loved Austin and LV came away pretty impressed with the program. Isn’t sold on USC bc of Helton etc. Expect UT to receive an OV in the fall and UT sits somewhere near the top of his list. (Didn’t give a timetable for a commitment.)

-We hosted Xavion Alford this past weekend. Mom brought him to UT after a&m visit. Bama is thought to be the favorite but has family that is pushing for Texas. Texas has been the constant in his recruitment and his family likes the staff. (247 made it sound like if he doesn’t choose Bama then UT is probably the destination. Idk how that jives with our DB numbers and Jerrin Thompson supposedly being on campus again on Tuesday of this week for another visit and possible commit(?) Still supposed to get CTJr. this week but he may be an OLB guy.)

Lol not sure if you’re serious on Mehringer?! He was named the Rivals recruiter of the year for this last cycle. Almost had himself 3 5 stars at the position if Bru wasn’t a head case. Not to mention Whittington, Jake Smith, Marcus Washington and Kennedy Lewis. Washington was offensive MVP of under armour game. jake Smith Gatorade player of the year most of us know this already.

I think the kid is just a product of his world, tbh and his recruitment brings out the nasty side of the whole recruiting business. Evans is right in suggesting that this whole recruiting process is a game. I'm sure he has doubts about how much these schools really care about his future or his success outside of football. Actually, in some ways, he reminds me of Ricky Williams. I just think it's sad because we see these kids in terms of the boxes we put them in. Black kids have it worse because of the racial element. I mean, juxtapose Evans to Hayden Connor, who had diverse interests and is praised for it, to the way Evans is seen as the prima donna, the angry and aloof black kid who is too full of himself. We all know that those stadiums, filled to capacity on Saturdays, have their fair share of fans who, while cheering like crazy for these athletes, also harbor very racist at udes towards Blacks but make an exception when one of them is the star athlete on their favorite team. I know this is the case at A&M and UT and all of the SEC. So, I'm going to cut the kid some slack until i hear something that would tell me more, because this article really showed me that there is some depth to him.

All of which he had help on. Bru didn’t pan out. Not on Mehringer but okay. Beck and his Arizona ties got Mehringer in the door on Smith and Liebrock. Marcus Washington’s father has said that one of the biggest reasons they chose UT was Carrington. You got me on Whittington and Lewis if you want to go by 247 as their lead recruiters (although Jordan made a lot of references to his fondness of Drayton throughout his recruitment). My point is Giles isn’t that bad. Broughton made it well known that his family loves Giles. He stayed up playing spades with VB’s grandma and wooing their whole family. He’s most likely going to land Alfred Collins, got Fillinger in the boat, and was the lead on Dorbah. It’s always somebody helping in the recruitments of these kids. Giles lost Leal and Chaisson. Naivar/Washington lost Jones and they’re probably the best recruiters on the staff. Drayton has whiffed hard at RB despite all of the analysts saying he was going to be a huge influence on recruits based on his coaching pedigree and history of putting RBs in the NFL.

i was going to comment on Evans and you nailed my thoughts so I don't have to repeat. I thought the article actually showed him in a positive light in regard to the depth and the reasons behind his thought process. I don't see it as anger for expressing himself and or questioning. Of course he is young and who knows how he grows and develops and deals with some of those things he questions. One does not have to be a cultural clone to fit into a team.I too wondered if Ricky Williams would be considered a culture fit. It will be interesting to see how things stand in a few years.

I agree with some of that but I don’t race has anything to do with people thinking he’s a prima donna. I think people think he’s a prima donna because he is. Tate Martell was the biggest prima donna I’ve ever seen and he was white. I know A&M fans remember him.

Jesus. You’ve also missed the point. I’m not bashing Mehringer, I’m defending Giles. And this is the last time I’ll do so.

I would probably say to look at Coburn, Ossai, and Ojomo.
