I would be stunned if those legends were working under Becky..

I hope She goes somewhere else TBH.. Not in love with setting the trend for the whole Female Coach thing..
I hope she gets the HC job some where else TBH now that Timmy joined the staff. I can't imagine Tim or even Manu working under her. Would be so weird.

What's the solution then? Ban women from coaching and reffing professional men's sports?
No but make sure they are actually qualified to be there. That’s not the sense I am getting in this PC culture we are living in right now. It’s basically required to hire them out of fear of being labeled sexist. Again you or I might have tremendous qualifications to be on NBA official. But the commissioner wants female referees. Just saying.

Pop And how much longer he decides to coach is obviously the big factor. Tim might be testing the waters here to see how much he enjoys coaching. No way of knowing if he wants to make it an actual career. Not yet anyway.

Becky would probably be a better coach than half of the league tbh. I'd love her as a head coach, hopefully it happens someday.

It's a legitimate concern, but I still think the best qualified candidates will get the jobs they deserve.

As much as the league wants to tout social activism and equality, I don't think it's going to put out a mandate that's like "X% of your staff must be female". Being anti-prejudice can still be prejudice if you make blanket statements like that, and most organizations these days are smart enough to know the difference.

It would actually hurt the movement more if they thrust under-qualified women into these very public roles only for them to fail spectacularly. That's why I think people who are truly qualified (like Becky) are good to at least start the conversation and, over time, sway the perception of both the public and the players.

The problem is that is exactly what will happen. Maybe not in her case, but in many others. Becky might do well. But the league will look to hire other less qualified women over men. PC Agenda.. We already have Silver saying they need Female Coaches and more Females Refs, etc. He is spelling it out for you. They will hire them because they are women. It's a PC agenda designed to include them. Why do you think Hollywood is making dog movies like the Ghostbusters Reboot in 2016, and putting women in all these Superhero parts over men? Because they have this corporate PC agenda. They are even talking about a Female James Bond which nobody is asking for. But watch them try it..

    Silver

"The goal is going forward, it should be roughly 50-50 of new officials entering in the league," he said. "Same for coaches, by the way. We have a program, too. There's no reason why women shouldn't be coaching men's basketball."

He is telling you right there, that Women will be hired. So as a man you may be vastly more qualified to Ref in the NBA. But he just made it clear, we need Women Refs..
Hey jackass maybe the reason women are under qualified as coaches is because they were never given opportunities to coach men in the first place. This rectified that problem.

Why do white males get so pissy about taking away from them, when that’s what they’ve been doing the past hundreds of years?

True. It’s not a PC agenda. It’s about an even playing field where white mommy and daddy can’t use their wealth or whiteness to buy you your way up in the world. You’ll have to earn it like the rest of us.

So you're saying that until the game goes completely co-ed, a woman should not be able to coach men? There are plenty of men who coach women's teams...should that be banned too?

Just because you can cite a few examples of women who may have been able to compete in the NBA (hint: they still would've gotten beaten up by the bigger, stronger players) doesn't mean that women can physically compete at the same level as men. That's not sexism, it's basic physiology. That's why basically every professional sport is separated by gender. But once again, that is due to physical limitations, and has nothing to do with their knowledge or experience of the sport.

Also, what does being gay have to do it? You are already starting on a prejudice stance, bringing that into the equation isn't helping your argument.
I'm saying that being gay makes a female much more masculine and man-like. If Becky is gay then she's already half male, essentially. That isn't prejudice, it's biology. People are born gay or they're not.

If they're going to let women in the locker rooms be coaching men, then why can't there be female players on the same team?
Because they won't be good enough to make the team.

    But if they were?

I'm a feminist and do believe in equal opportunity for women IF AND ONLY IF they can do the job. But quotas and affirmative action are re ed because they are socialist, not meritorious.

The other thing that's dumb is the archaic, overly Christian/Abrahamic tradition of segregating by gender in say, locker room and showers... I think to some extent it makes sense in high school/under 18 stuff, but not after that... it's like people are so prude as that they've never seen the opposite sex without clothes/all sweaty/not groomed or dolled up before? Re ed prude crap.

I know I thought I and my wife were very glad to be out of the area minutes before it happened.
was crazy, trying to go home.

My wife cried. "I'm a target! He wanted to shoot me!".
Disgusting stuff going on in this country right now.

Less pathetic than the 2014 UC-Santa Barbara Virgin Killer's manifesto (which I was bored enough at that time to read through) but still, taken way too far man. Why the do you kill people that had nothing to do with you, man? Sick .

Sure. What a loss for the league you are not on any bench.

My question was crystal clear: your "answer" doesn't have anything to do with my question. No suprise.

She's an assistant coach for the Spurs, as I said, better than yours and half the idiots in the league. Would you be singing the same tune if it was Tim or Manu taking over for Pop?

"Becky Hammon has also earned the respect of many NBA players throughout the league. One of basketball's most prolific scorers, Pau Gasol wrote an open letter about female coaches, with emphasis on Becky. "I’ve played with some of the best players of this generation … and I’ve played under two of the sharpest minds in the history of sports, in Phil Jackson and Gregg Popovich. And I’m telling you: Becky Hammon can coach. I’m not saying she can coach pretty well. I’m not saying she can coach enough to get by. I’m not saying she can coach almost at the level of the NBA’s male coaches. I’m saying: Becky Hammon can coach NBA basketball. Period"

I'll take a future HOF players opinion over yours tbh.
