Insanity has different varieties. It always doesn't mean a break with reality or a sudden action. You can have a deluded and distorted worldview (which I classify as insanity) but still act "rationally" and methodically per that worldview, like Hitler rationalizing the killing of Jews. And I think the Internet has exacerbated this kind of creeping form of insanity based on distorted worldviews since there's an innumerable amount of echo chambers that justify that view, like the Flat Earth believers.
This is also why we need to take a harder look at gun control than ever before. This isn't the same society as when every Joe Bob and Bubba was turkey shootin' at 8 years old. Our cultural environment (i.e. psych meds, 24/7 news, social media, Internet echo-chambers, etc) nurtures insanity unlike any time in human history.

18 yo as a start for our military is considered perfect as opposed to 25. This brain can be manipulated easier and trained easier. And they are physically strong and want to fight. No family of their own.... etc... So it makes sense to go after the grunts. Older males using young ones for the fight. It’s been a historically proven advantage. Get enough of them and the a portion of bright ones might remain on board and become officers using the difficult route.

I'm in the military, so I fight for your freedom and 2nd Amendment rights. What blows my mind is I have to be 21 to drink, 25 to rent a car, but I could be 17 and buy an AR-15. No license needed. No background checks. No mental health exam. All I need is cold hard cash.
Who cares what happens as long as the NRA gets paid. SMH
