This class size is definitely going to be in the very low 20's by the way things look at the moment.
Damn Chris Brown is huge.
yeah, thanks from me as well, Harvey. Great work.
I still don't quite get what the near-perpetual problem with our LB corps we've had so many years now. Not every year, of course, but the vast majority, and that was really the case a lot of years even under Mack in many of his earlier, good years.
Part of the issue seems to be that our DC usually has to coach the LB's and often not having much LB-specific coaching in his past (at least not where he's splitting between DC and LB).
Another issue c/b simply the style of play in the Big 12 that lends itself much less to traditional LB and also to more DB's needed on the field.
Even so, this is Orlando's third year--it's definitely to where he should be really zeroing in on his type of fits for this conference.
Regarding linebacker talk - De’Gabriel Floyd being injured is a huge loss, IMO. Best linebacker since Jordan Hicks potentially
I think McCulloch and Ossai have big years. Would’ve been nice to have them & Floyd together at the same time though
My pleasure. I like being able to come here and get away from the politics, bs, general fkry that you can’t get away from anywhere else. Floss is the man for keeping this thing going.
On the LB recruiting.. I don’t really know what the plan is but most sites and “insiders” have hinted that the staff has something up their sleeves. I don’t really understand why nobody can reveal this but I guess in due time we’ll be able to see the bigger/clearer picture. Reading from different sites makes me believe that Herman does have an ace in the hole and is playing with one uva poker face. We did get Dorbah but we’re lacking that force in the middle. I will say that Ive learned to have more faith in Herman since the complete 180 they pulled with Bijan and tOSU. I believe they know what they’re doing even if it’s not evident to guys like us. Maybe they have a JUCO kid like Gary Johnson lined up and they can’t talk about it for reasons unknown... I can usually get a good idea of what’s going on just by reading the tea leaves on all the pay sites but I’m clueless here. Clueless but optimistic.
Anybody have any ideas?

Per usual, I’ll just include the recruiting discussion notes. Had a lot of good practice notes but that’s all widely published everywhere you care to look. I try to stick with the theme of the thread but the other stuff they talked about was good too.

Joseph Ossai type. B-backer. Force off the edge. Extremely explosive for his size. Shows how important the b-backer position is. Staff felt they were in a good position but expected him to announce sometime next year. Went ahead and committed after he saw the momentum Texas was building with Milroe, Hayden, Bowman, etc..
Bijan Robinson:
Everything up to a week before his announcement was pointing to tOSU. Drayton got Robinson in the fold definitively after the end of dead period, before that he was going to tOSU. Drayton felt the pressure to get him and was paying attention to the noise. 6’0 200lb but has a low center of gravity. His quickness (ability to juke/cut) is elite but his acceleration after the cut is what makes him a 5-star. Extremely sudden. Not a lot of power (run you over) but he doesn’t have to. Vision is great and that’s obvious for a RB but his ability to move into those lanes is rare.
Ty Jordan:
Outstanding RB class with this guy. Beat out USC, again. Short but he’s a lot thicker than what film shows. Muscular twitchy kid. Will motion from backfield to slot.
Chris Thompson Jr:
Had UT all the way until his video announcement. Auburn had conceded (whatever that means in recruiting) to UT. Joe and Will weren’t buying Auburn noise. Thought it was just to build suspense. Will be hard to replicate bc he was such a specific fit. (Didn’t say whether they felt UT would keep pursuing hard. I feel like they will just bc of the amount of work they put in and it doesn’t fit with all of his friends and teammates seemingly going to Texas.)
Ethan Pouncey:
Nobody saw it coming. (I think the staff probably pushed for him bc they felt Eaton was leaning UT and knew he was announcing soon and they liked Pouncey more. But Joe and Will didn’t say this. Just kind of makes sense from my limited view.) Willingness and ability to come up and hit despite having a slight frame. Elite ballhawk with great length. Needs to add some weight and keep hitting. Bring him to UT and send him to Yancy. Rare ability to position himself to make a play.
Josh Eaton:
Unclear whether UT would take him. Still a close battle b/t us and a&m. Didn’t know how Pouncey would effect his decision. (They made it sound like UT would take his commitment but aren’t going to push really hard now that Pouncey is in. I think they should bc like texas4ever mentioned, Eaton has elite athletic ability and next years cb class is pretty shallow.)
Ringo: You can hope in one hand and in the other. See which one fills up first.
Kind of a down year in the state for corner. Kimber is a take, Jaylon Jones was a take, ... UT at some point made the decision to go out of state to look for that second guy.
This is really good.
Keep adding your own thoughts in parenthesis, italics, whatever.
Thanks for your time and effort.
Thank yall!

most of this podcast is about other recruits not related to UT. It’s a 1hr17min long. The Bijan portion is short though for those wanting to hear it for themselves or get a feel for the kid. I think the staff is going to have to stay on him.

Bijan Robinson interview: (Starts at 10:10)
First thing that comes to mind is family. Loved Drayton as God fearing man. Likes Draytons pedigree of success. Drayton cried when Bijan committed. “Ima be honest with you, he cried. Like tears.” Loves outside/inside zone. Loves being receiver out of backfield. He likes being a “do it all back.” Talked and still talk lot to Smith and Liebrock. Asked whether he would take any more officials or if he’s done Bijan said, “I might take those two... I want to get out to LSU... I’m not sure about the other one yet but yeah, I want to get out to LSU.” Hosts said recruitment might not be over. Hosts bet that he’d take his two remaining, LSU being one of those.
Per Inside Texas, former LSU DB Kelvin Joseph is thought to be headed to Florida, but some Gainesville folks expect him to visit Texas before making a decision.

Although they previously reported that the UT staff wants only two CBs, Inside Texas is now hearing the number is definitely three.
Same goes for the safety position with Jerrin Thompson potentially filling the nickel spot.
They mentioned Texas is pushing for S Xavion Alford, but in order to get him, they believe the coaches need to start pushing for CB Joshua Eaton ASAP.
They compared the situation to LB David Gbenda last year where Eaton will go to the first school out of A&M and UT that pushes for him.
