I'm not reading too much into the play of Boyce, he will improve. I said before the season that we have talented corners but they will take their lumps this year. They are a young bunch and need to learn.

Agree with you on Ossai. I felt that the best non-safety players we had on the field yesterday was a tie between Shark and Ossai. Both were great yesterday. I have full confidence in both guys being able to get the job done.

Our run defense is stout, I'm a bit concerned about our pass defense. Especially going up against LSU next week.

I want you guys to keep this in mind about La Tech. They were a team with a ton of seniors and red-shirt juniors. These guys were not a patsy school, they were a solid bunch and a great tune up game before we face LSU.

Let him improve against lesser opponents. Not LSU.

La Tech did make the playoffs last year and a couple of kids in the secondary were quite capable.
So I was very happy with the dominant performance that allowed us play the backups. Finally! We actually stomped a team early enough to get the backups involved.

I really hope Whittington is ready. LSU plays D like every player is better than their counterparts. Whitt can actually make people miss. The LSU linebackers and 2ndary having doubt about coming up and attempting to crush an easy target needs to be present. Jake Smith needs to do the same. Slippery, with initial acceleration, puts them on their heals instead of running into 230lb Alabama RBs in a test of will. We can’t play that way. At least have the defender off balance after a good move as you run into him.

Also, Blocking on the bubble screen, very important. and if we can’t do it, don’t use it. No 3rd down and 15 to go because we lose yardage on those.

Logan Parr looked pretty solid last night. O'Connor had most of it's success running on his side but he wasn't dominant. He was less impressive in pass protection and even gave up a sack.

He had a hunk of meat next to him last year on the line so this is interesting. As I said, I was there to watch the hunk of meat who was playing tackle.

Also this is a 4 star kid. unless he was playing against a really good DE as a tackle, pretty solid is not very exciting for me.
