Disney needs more money to buy every ing thing in the universe. Disney.
To be fair, ESPN the cable channel will be nearly extinct, internet based services are the way to go.
Anyone have a link to the box score? I can’t seem to find one
USA upset Japan 98-45

I haven't watched the game yet, but White's numbers don't look too good. He played about 20 minutes and put up 8 points, which isn't that bad. But he only shot .375, and he had 4 TO's to 3 AST. Kemba Walker played about one more minute than White and put up 16 points, with 8 AST to 2 TO's.
I had hoped for better out of White than what we've seen so far.
Can't be a boxscore analyst. White has been solid. Clearly better than Smart, and has arguably been more impactful than even Mitc at times. He's wrecking havoc on defense. Kemba is a veteran, multiple time all-star who's clearly the the best player on the team. Kind of unfair to make him the measuring stick for White.
White’s been way too passive, deferring to everyone on offense and if he’s improved his three point shot it’s sure not showing in the limited tries.
Nah, imo.
He's making pretty aggressive drives to the basket and is super aggressive and wrecking havoc on the defensive end. He isn't getting regular minutes and is surrounded by players that are bigger names, so he is deferring at times but nothing out of the ordinary, imho.
Fair and a legitimate concern. I was hoping his 3 would've looked better by now.
LOL... thanks for the lecture. But you can't just ignore the numbers. On a day when the USA wins 98-45, there was clearly plenty of opportunity. He put up 8 points and had 4 TO's - against very weak compe ion. With all the talk we've been hearing about him in the practices, this is the kind of game I would have hoped he would break out. I know he can play D. I'm interested in seeing him score and distribute. I've heard those are good things for a PG to do.
Yeah, I used Kemba for a comparison, since he was playing the same position in the same game against the same compe ion. So you don't want to look at the box score, and you don't want to look at the other players on the team? Basically, you just want to look at the fact that he plays for the Spurs?
Piss off.
I do think looking at this should temper people's expectations for White. It's not that he won't be good this upcoming season or that he can't be REALLY good. But there's still a gap between White and legit star guards. The same goes for DeRozan, who'd be eating this tourney alive had he been on the roster. Folks think you can trade guys like DMDR or avoid making deals when they're available like with Walker. That may work, but likely none of Walker, Murray or White will ever be that good. I don't think it's reasonable to put too much stock in any of the young players becoming worth holding onto in lieu of stars until they prove it. And that doesn't mean some on/off, RPM bull way of proving it. I hope they do, and I certainly like what I see from every one of the young guys on the roster right now. But every team has guys like this if they are even okay at drafting.
All that said, I wouldn't put too much stock in White's performance in this setting. He's at the bottom of the totem pole on a team full of perimeter players who are still trying to learn to play in a system rather than a free-for-all one-on-one fest. He's not going to be assisting a bunch, especially in a game where the team had no problem scoring. His shooting isn't great, but he had plenty of games like that in season (though he had streaks of crazy efficiency too). I hope he has one or two really good games in the rest of the summer, but that's not what he's on the team for.
Nando De Colo with clutch.. hahah unbelievable WTF
As a PG White cannot be aggressive as he wants unkess he has the penetration skills of TP. It's why last year sometime he dissappeared. Having DeRozan as a secondary playmaker should help so he can work off the ball some and get into good scoring positions. He is a great and creative playmaker when he has a head of steam and attacking the basket.
White was really good against Greece. There was an actual attempt to move the ball around when he was on the court, unlike when the starters played.
Watch the games, fool.
If you did you'd know he's pretty much the last guard off the bench every game. Typically doesn't see action until halfway through the second quarter. So he's, for all intents and purposes, the third string PG. So yeah it's pretty stupid to compare him to the captain and only perennial all-star on Team USA. Makes more sense to compare him to the 2nd string PG (Smart) whom he's clearly been better than.
Definitely his best game to date. After he finally made a corner three he got a little more aggressive offensively.
Smart’s almost never playing PG. It’s Walker, Mitc and White. White’s moving the ball but in and of itself he’s not creating many open looks for others. A lot could be players unfamiliarity with each other and the system though. His D us solid, not many mistakes but he’s not creating havoc. Your boy Murray I expect to be more of a disruptor on the Spurs.
Nice win for Pop and team USA! Great D against the Greek freak.
Doesn't FkLA think White is better than Fox?
Serbia looks like the monster. Their net margin is over 40 points. Looking at the bracket, we won't have to play them until the gold medal game if we stay at the top of our bracket, and they do the same.
White's role on USA is to get the offense flowing. The team barely has any players that can do this and so he's vital. Maybe he's getting too many turnovers, but assists are hard to get statted in FIBA. I wouldn't worry about him at all; he's playing a key role right now.
Serbia is going to massacre poop. He couldn't beat Jokic in the NBA and he certainly won't be able to do it in FIBA per par.
You're tiresome.
