Not sure why people keep defecting to Trump. Surely Trump has some moral ground with his tariff battle, but we all know that the trade war was a miscalculation that is going to harm his ability to get re-elected on the only thing that has kept him relevant...the economy.

But Trump has nothing to do with Silver being so afraid of China that he issued a separate statement for the US and China. His statement here in the US is nice and sweet because he is relying on teams, like Rocket ownership, to reign in all talk about China. Note truth teller, Pop, had time to deflect the issue to Trump instead of mentioning the C word. He's as scared of talking about China as all the players. Why? It's bad for business. The NBA relies on the Chinese market to make big money. Pop want to try to recruit a max level player that will be blacklisted by China the minute he signs with the Spurs if Pop is outspoken?

While I don't blame Pop for cowering, I do think the players and Pop are hypocrites. They speak out on the detention centers for immigrants because its safe to do now that Trump is president. But they are silent on concentration camps where political dissidents are forced into slave/free labor to make goods for the US to buy. Try competing with that labor advantage. And when they aren't busy forcing the dissidents to be Santa's little helpers, they are using them to harvest organs. In any other setting, this would be an affront to the world, but here in the US, so many corporations, including the NBA, rely on those Chinese dollars that they won't take a stand and they will let China dictate what they say. I can't wait to watch Disney's live action Mulan and its script that has been approved by the Chinese government.
