Nobody mentioned it, but the Spurs got sent to the line 36 times, compared to 18 for the Knicks. Not saying they didn't deserve it, but there was a 16 point differential in FT's.

It's pathetic to want to measure your team against the presumed best team in the league?! Ok, dude...
It is pretty pathetic. You can't enjoy a win without being obsessed with getting revenge on #2. You are going to be in a world of pain if you expect the Spurs to compete with the Clippers this year. The way I measure the Spurs is by watching how the young guys are playing and developing. This team is work in progress and are not a le contender right now. Unfortunately the Clippers are right now. My only hope for this team is to get 50 wins and let the chips fall as they may.

LMA can't score consistently unless we run the LMA offense which is everyone standing around doing nothing and watching him...

He can't do simple things like catch it and pass to an open man...or really pass the ball at all...he doesn't step out to the 3 point line to create space for a driving guard...or really make himself presentable to a driving guard in any way shape or form...

He doesn't really catch and shoot anymore...

I'm not a Derozan fan but I am not worried about him playing within the flow of the offense...looked bad for 3 quarters but he will figure it out...he had times when he was deadly last year if you surrounded him with shooters...

Here is a question...when was the last time we got an open 3 off a LMA double team?
You gotta factor in Lamarcus playing in a crowd with his own teammate in Demar leading the way. It's alot harder to do the simple things in basketball. Floor spacing is king in todays nba. Theres only one legit spacer on that starting unit in Bryn.

Your concerns are valid but you lost me at Demar figuring it out. I call it waking up, enough with the pouting. He should be off the bench

Nice game from DJM. Glad he's back, as for the ugly, DeRozan looked like garbage tonight.

Game 1 of the season and he's the heart and soul of this team! Time for him to take over this season.

Exactly. That stint was awesome to watch because Patty seemed like he was trying to lift the entire team. Can't wait to watch him and Patrick Beverley duel.

During our stint he was the only one attempting to keep everyone spirits up and showed up on the defensive and offensive end of the floor. Too bad you only watch the 4Q

    smh

I hope this doesn't hurt Lonnie's confidence. He worked his ass all summer.
He probably got lit up by Beli in camp and that's why his ass is on the bench.

Pretty sure LMA got like 10 of his points off rebounds. Really not sure what game some of you watch.

Forbes continues to gain my respect. I still believe he'd be best off the bench but the guy belongs and his confidence seems to be at an all-time high. It's good to see.

    Any thoughts on overall game?

When the spurs went up by 16 what was LMA doing?

When they went on an 18-0 run at the end what was LMA doing?

Do you see any shooters on this roster? We were one of the worst three point shooting teams last year in terms of volume. Besides, Raptors tried the "surround Derozan with shooters" gimmick and it resulted in nothing but regular season paper tigers that flamed out of the playoffs year after year.

White starting at PG with Murray at SG would do wonders in cutting down the turnovers. White just controls a game better and would limit DDRs hogging the ball.

He's playing in a crowd because he is to dumb to get out the way and doesn't have enough natural feel for the game to know when somebody is going to shoot or not...

I just don't think you can win in todays nba at the highest level featuring a ball stopper on offense who generates virtually no open shots for anyone else on the team due to his horrible passing...

Hopefully after next year the nightmare can be over and Luka is ready to take over at the 4 or 5

Midgame it was posted that NY was getting F'd by SpurRef.

    Any thoughts on overall game?

I thought it was part of the Knicks' plan to ugly up the game, and a lot of those calls were the result. I think it's part of the reason the Spurs committed 21 TO's, and how the Knicks came up with 16 STL's. It's actually not a bad game plan, if you're a weak team like NY - especially in the first few games of the season. You frustrate ball handlers, you take shooters out of rhythm, and sometimes you just wear down the refs because they don't like to look like they have taken over a game.

The Spurs shot their FT's really well. I don't know what their final FT% was, but I don't remember many misses other than DDR. When you get down to it, the Spurs won the game at the FT line tonight.

The Spurs don't really foul much.
Oh, I know. And like I said above, I think the Knicks game plan made the excessive fouls pretty much inevitable. I was just pointing out that it was an important but overlooked factor in the final score.
