I don't get your optimism at all. Getting rid of the VRA, all the new voter ID laws, supreme court sanctioned buying of elections and supreme court sanctioned gerrymandering so candidates can pick their voters doesn't exactly paint the picture of a nation that embraces democracy like you seem to think. Also gotta love how Texas has put in a law requiring a new driver's license to vote for a bunch of people taking effect just coincidentally the month before the 2020 election.
I still remember in grade-school sitting through good government bull class and complaining about how stupid the electoral college sounded and my teachers acting like the candidate who got the most votes always wins anyways. Since then we have gotten the two most dangerous presidents of the last 100 years thanks to cons utionally mandated subversion of democracy through the EC.
I don't know how you can have faith in a country where one of the two political parties is headed by Trump and where that party's best bet by far is to stick with him thanks a right wing mass media that has made him the modern day hero of the white man.

Well number one is the fact that Trump got elected was a huge wakeup call.
Voting matters. People have professed it does not, but it does. rmt, however much you dislike her, got out and participated, she worked for Trump. She played a role.
I also was shocked at the result but found it very interesting that about half the voters in America would vote for a TV clown.
Then I thought, we will see if this guy is as bad as I thought he might be. I thought he might be guided by people who understood how to get things done.
Well that was a gigantic mistake. I had no idea that a president would actually make problems on purpose, purposely create chaos to divide people. Actually want to please a portion of the public purely for some sort of revenge against a black man, I had no idea.
I am a naturally optimistic person. I am in the business of getting things accomplished and moving on the the next problem. The majority of people I work with and hang around with are exactly the same way. We like work, and we like getting things correct, doing a good job. I also do volunteer work and have seen this country does have a whole lot of good will.
This board is a totally different story. I basically find it amusing.
But I seriously think Trump is gonna get his butt kicked in 2020. And yes, I live in Texas.
