People trying to on Davis (unsurprisingly, it's the Suckers)...hard to be good defensively when you're platooned with defensive losers like Patty, Bryn, Derozan, Beli.....
So everyone else has to be good defensively before Davis can be good defensively? OK.

Bertans is built to be a good player on a great defensive team. He’d be great for the 76ers to pick up.

That's a pretty good way of putting it. He's not rebounding for , and he's not having to defend, and his offensive production has been off the chart (for him at least). But his team is 1-4 and the only team they've beaten is 2-4.

I'd like to have his 3P production this year. But he hasn't turned into a Sixth Man candidate just because he's knocking down more than usual.

That's not what he was saying, and you know it. He said that Bert would be a good addition to a team that plays good D.

On the Wizards, he doesn't have to worry about playing D. Or rebounding. There's not a lot of point in getting excited about the fact that he's hitting a lot of 3's. I wish we hadn't lost him, but he wouldn't have had the opportunity to play that way here.

Well you have two games where he scored a whole lot -- the inevitable big game versus the Spurs and a 300+ point regulation game against Houston. The rest have been vintage Bertans.

I think he's just as likely to end up with an 8 point average again than maintain the 16 point average-- which is already 14 after one game.

What we should be doing is comparing him to Morris. That's the trade the Spurs thought they had made, and 99% of the time the player doesn't renege on his verbal commitment.

    This.

Spurs didn't intend to send Bertans off for nothing. Morris is the one who ed out on the agreement.

At least Lyles has shown himself capable of putting in productive minutes doing things that no one expected of him...and things that Bertans was not good at doing. If Trey can actually start hitting shots, it will be an upgrade tbh.

It's surprising how close this emergency contingency signing is so close to being a better fit than either Bertans or Morris.

This will be one of the main ST alternative timeline causes célèbres for a few seasons to come. Get used to it and get used to the defensiveness of those who bring him up every time his stat line looks good.

If Davis never played for us, he would be a player we would have wanted... Many of the players we see on other teams and want on ours wouldn't do good under pop...

We have seen it many times in the past

even in today's NBA, the goal is to score more points than you allow

Well, seeing how Bertans' BPM is 1.5, he manages to do that quite well. Even on a ty team like the Wizards.

Davis is a of a shooter. It was worse the sacrifice to get Morris, but...

Guy went through 2 major knee injuries and lost a finger, and still makes the NBA. He ain't perfect but you gotta respect Bertans.
    I agree...and nice signature additions!

Feels like bertans was the upgrade to Bonner and now samanic is the upgrade to bertans.

Samanic is a pretty similar player to both and has the potential to become the best version of that role.

How so? If you are in a bad team, you tend to get less quality looks. For a space providing role player like Bertans that should be a great handicap, yet he's having a career year so far.

Why is that? Because Bertans can be more than just a spot up shooter. He's a lot more versatile than most folks gave him credit for here. Brooks realized this and is using him in more varied ways.
