Go after fleck, but you would probably be disappointed
Fleck might be a great coach, but he is just like Herman and Strong, another guy who hasn't really proven himself over a long period of time. This has been Texas problem over the last 40 years. Texas hired Fred Akers from Wyoming, They hired David McWilliams away from Tech after one year has a head coach. They hired Mackovic after just 4 years at Illinois. Mack Brown had spent some time as a head coach and even he was a bit green. Then they hired Strong after just 3 years at Louisville, and Herman after just 3 years at Houston.

Enough is enough, if we fire Herman, and it sounds like he will get another 2 year window to right the ship, then Texas better have the balls to go after someone with real experience and success. No more one year wonders.

I agree 100% but it's not like there are a lot of long tenured successful coaches out there looking for jobs or even changing schools. Unless you got Urban Meyer on speed dial who could you realistically get?

Even Darrell Royal was escorted out.
Nearly all the really good college coaches meet their time to leave on some sour note.

Mack Brown will go down as a tremendous success. He just became fat with that success and a grandpa.
This coaching stuff is a tremendous grind on a life. And imo it’s getting even tougher.

He will bring as much chaos (lying and cheating) as success. And if you think he will leave a program in Ohio State shape rethink that. Ohio St. will keep this pace up... ? We don’t know. We do know he put Florida in a bind.

OrangeBloods reporting RB Ty Jordan of West Mesquite took an official visit to Utah this weekend, and apparently it went very well.

One of the West Coast guys from 24/7 gave an update on RB Bijan Robinson and all is good with Texas after staff changes.

He doesn't plan on taking any visits.

Damn, we need to jump on this, he is a guy I really want in the system. We have some top tier guys we can't lose, I would put him very high in that second tier. Wherever he goes, he is going to be a of a contributor.

The question i'm asking, and the whole point of my post, is who besides Meyer is out there with a long history as a successful coach that is available?

Yes I’d be wondering the same thing. If Urban is too much risk I’d hope we’d be aiming for someone with as close a track record as possible. By the looks of it these up and comer project Head Coaches isn’t panning out for us.

There isn't a lot out there.

    Dabo
    Dabo
    Dabo

    After him

    Dude from Washington
    Guy from Penn state
    Guy from Stanford
    There are few NFL guys
A few years ago John Harbaugh talked about returning to the college ranks.
    There is Urban

Who ever Texas might go after, I'm pretty sure they are going to have to open the bank vault and offer upwards of 8 million a year, maybe not the stupid contract Aggy used to get Jimbo, but the money would be on the same level.

Fleck's whole "row the boat" shtick would never work at a blue blood program, tbh. Minnesota is the right type of job for him.

I think Herman's grew stale this year, so we'll see if the staff changes can reinvigorate the team and keep a few guys from transferring out.

As of today, Inside Texas is hearing things are moving quickly in the direction of Chris Ash.

However, they have also heard names like Washington's Jimmy Lake and recently fired Barry Odom of Mizzou.

Since they published that report, Lake has been named the new coach at Washington.

This might be the best WR class in recent history.

Jimmy Lake would be a great upgrade for the defense, especially the secondary.
