Interesting that Wemby REQUESTED that the cause of his missed game was "rest" and not "ankle injury"
Add that to him subbing himself in the game (has that ever happened under Pop?) and it starts to be a lot of negative signals he's sending.
Next game is on TNT and he's probably raging about his min restrictions when he'll have to face Giannis for the 1st time

of course - pop subbed him out regardless -
then i was shocked to see wemby out there really quickly - and it seems like (of course) it was not pop who put him back in...
I wonder if games missed due to injury affect contract negotiations or some other aspect of the business dealings. Or if Victor just thinks it's bull and doesn't want to play along with the tanking charade. Are teams going to be fined for resting guys this year? There will be a lot of injuries.
I don't think it's what's in Victor's mind. He just doesn't want to be labbeled injury prone. An easy cliche for dudes his size
It will be telling to see how Pop handles this "insubordination" and frustration.

What a season of discombobulation. I'm starting to notice that Wemby isn't the only player either missed or, worse, hit with a pass out of position or thrown a step too late. They really seem to have no idea where each other are on the court, nor, do they have good offensive instincts. They started the season much better, strangely.
I'm 100% interested in seeing a Sniffer's take on Wemby subbing himself in tbh. 100% serious.
wemby is being immature and selfish. but he'll learn the spurs way and get over himself soon enough. its times like these i'm especially grateful pop has stuck around
Let's hope that Wemby has some of that "Deron Williams" in him.
I think the spin is going to be that it was just a big nothingburger and probably some type of miscommunication but need confirmation tbh.

I wonder what effect playing fake the national team will have on Wemby. Much is made on American players making a “jump” after an Olympic stint. Will it be the same for Wemby? And if so are the Spurs ready to accelerate their building around him?
National team will mainly bring emotions and tiredeness to Wemby
It's diff for US players who actually discover new type of basketball, new rules etc bringing them new perspectives and teaching them to adapt etc

IIRC, the Spurs have not done any Social Media campaigning for All-Star votes to date.
Add to that the fact that today is Wemby's birthday.
Wemby added some incredible highlights to the resume tonight. Capping Giannis’ ass when he tried the “go into his body” drive at the end was worth everything. Imagine when Wemby fills out a little more and does that regularly to the Greek Geek or similar fools still getting away with it now.
