I think every reporter, every police car I've seen cruising around should be stocked at all times with at least water. I don't think that's too much to ask.

CNN reporter on right now is talkign about how amongthe masses gathered at convention center he "saw a man dying, literally going thru convultions and seizures right there on the ground in front of us"

and abviously this asswipe did nothign to help.

As a journalist you are not supposed to be involved in the news. You report, not create or unfluence.

It is also possible that just because they have a camera and a microphone, they dont know what to do for someone having a seizure.

I can't believe that someone fired shots at a military helicopter, so they've halted evacuations. One, he's lucky they didn't return fire and tear him into pieces. Two, that crowd in front of the CC is probably none too happy right now about the situation that jerk-off with the gun put them in.

Hopefully he'll get a little street justice.

The National Guard needs to be given clearance to shoot looters on sight.

Although, it may be that conditions are so bad that not even the NG can maintain order.

The thing I fear now is that they may have to leave 60,000 people there to fend for themselves, nearly all of whom would die in those conditions.

If First-Aid training is required of every journalist, I haven't been told yet.

I don't know if this is public knowledge (I didn't read back) but Gov Perry is doing a press conference at 12:30... they are bringing 25,000 refugees to San Antonio (and/or another Texas city).

I don't think they'll even consider that. Every "man on the street" interview I've seen has shown that the rage is directed at the government and rescue workers, who they think haven't done enough. I should stop listening to BBC because my blood pressure can't take it, but basically their reporter interviewed person after person, all of whom were enraged at the "lack of help" they were receiving from the authorities. None of them complained about the looters and armed thugs running around hijacking medical trucks and shooting at cops and helicopters.
