I'll admit that I wish Tim and Fab would dunk more when theyr'e OBVIOUSLY open enough to do so, but it's all good.

I get where you come from sam, I really do, but I also feel like you're being a hypocrite here, calling out Manufan for posting stupid and conveniently overlooking the fact that it was in response to several previous idiotic posts by your fellow countrymen. I wasn't overlooking anything, I was responding to a specific post. There has been stupid things said all over this thread by people from many different countries. I don't deny it and I don't support it. I never said, as you are implying, that I support or agree with everything that an American poster has said. If you have been around here for any length of time, you will know that when someone has tried to paint a fanbase as being of one mindset, I am usually one of the first to jump in and speak against that. That is what happened here and that is what I did.

I'll be rooting for Argentina. Not because I hate the US or the US team, but because it would be too damn annoying to see some of the idiots in this thread celebrating if the US wins (although I believe most of the idiots are just trolls / trolling, they can't be that stupid). The words in Spanish were meant to emphasize a point, Manu is from Bahia Blanca so it is possible he could retire to a little ranch there. I was using the Spanish in a purely descriptive way...not sure how you figure they were racist but they weren't meant that way. I am not sure how just by typing those words, I am assuming anyone who knows Spanish doesn't know what they mean, in fact I am pretty sure that if a person speaks Spanish they are the first to know what that means.
Again, and this is what is missed....I am not saying that American fans making fun of other countries or their fans is ok...if you can show me where I said that, please do. If I were to say that, then yes, that would be hypocritical. My point is that there are quite a few Argentine (and American fans for that matter) who are currently Spurs fans who will not be so after Manu retires. It takes more to be a real american than just to be born here. that piece of wants to see our american team be humiliated again and lose again like in 2004. the world was laughing at the USA and saying all those bad things about us. as if we already don't have to put up with enough criticism from people around the world because of our politics in Iraq and such.

there is more at stake here in the 2008 olympic basketball tournament than just a gold medal. it's about respect and reclaiming our national glory in a tournament that we SHOULD be dominating in. anything less is humiliation.
