Lakersground, right ? Yeah, those crazy mods of em. I was veeery respectful there backthen, i even complimented their team, only to have them saying that i gave them a backhanded compliment and got banned![]()
It's great that those teams are going back, when are the people we took in going back?

A quote from everyone's favorite Kings' board moderator, VF21:
"If that bizarre shot of Barry hadn't bounced up off the inside of the rim, mysteriously changed direction and dropped through the hoop we would have won.
Yes, Bibby accepted the "blame" but people are overlooking just how strange that shot looked.

I am particularly impressed how the Spurs were able to make sure the "magic funnel" wasn't turned on during the first half, when the Queens were shooting at that goal...
Damn, this is one stubborn thread! Been around for nearly a week now.
They have to turn on registration first.
I don't get what's so bad about the quotation. You think she was accusing Barry of cheating?
Wgaf ?

Those damn goals at the ATT center! They have that weird curvature and that weird round shape.
"Mysteriously changed direction" HAHAHAHAHA... actually, the ball does tend to change direction when it comes into contact with a metal rim attached to an extremely heavy metal and glass support structure... just my opinion though.![]()
In context, yes I think she is saying Barry cheated. How in the @#$% could you ever do that in basketball...
1. Too many people touch the ball (i.e. you would be caught).
2. The standard pitchers' tricks don't work on a basketball.
3. If the rim was somehow altered, it was the same rim through the whole game.
Precisely. We don't need this crap.
I don't buy that. I think she was just trying to be descriptive. She's bizarre but she's not dumb.
and you know this... how?
She's saying that if Barry hadn't hit the shot, the Kings would have won; and, I think, that Barry shouldn't have hit the shot because it looked strange.
I wasn't aware, however, that the NBA had imposed an aesthetic requirement on scores -- I'd expect that all of Shawn Marion's non-dunk points will be immediately rescinded.
I know what she means. It was headed up, and then inexplicably slowed, stopped, and started heading DOWN. Smells fishy to me, too.
Fropm what I've read she knows basketball. I may not agree with her opinions, but that doesn't meet she doesn't know and understand the game
She's certainly not the type to think that a) a weird bounce in basketball = grounds to suspect cheating, b) doing something to make the ball bounce weird is advantageous in a basketball game, and c) any shooter would be capable in the split seconds between catching and shooting to doctor the ball to make it bounce weird.
If you've got some proof to the contrary, I'd like to see it.
IT HIT THE BACKBOARD right at the top of the glass where there is a narrow border; it hit at the proper angle to reverse direction of the ball. Nothing mysterious about it. It's called ricochet. I'm sure there's some fancy scientific name for it, and there's bound to be a mathematical equation for the angles. But there's nothing "mysterious" about it. Nothing "inexplicable". Nothing fishy, either. It's not mystical and it's not magic. Did you people actually SEE the shot? You are aware, are you not, that basketballs bounce when coming in contact with solid objects...like hardwood floors...and glass backstops with metal borders?
Hopefully the story of the Spurs' magnetic rims doesn't become public knowledge.

objects tend to follow the laws of physics
unless they are moving at near the speed of light like tony parker![]()

Do you know where the switch is, timvp? And exactly WHO gets to flip it?
Like I said, she was trying to be descriptive. A Kings fan would call the bounce "mysterious" or "sinister". A Spurs fans would call it "fortuitous" or "magical". None of these would in their context are meant to imply that any rules, either of the game or of physics, were broken.
I post here because...
The Spurs are my second favorite team, and they are about a 1,000% better team and organization than the Pacers. Actually, the Spurs are my favorite team, but I don't like to admit it. I have stuck with that other ABA team too long, as in I still have a red, white, and blue Pacers ball from happier days. (Strangely enough, we also tend to get more Pacers broadcasts here in Indiana, go figure.)
The Spurs are more interesting, due to the composition of the team. Basically, the Spurs have two teams: All-World All-Stars and Pesky NBA Veterans. The Pacers have a team built around two starters who no longer play there. Sad, really...
Basically, this board is better than any of the Pacers boards, and I check in here a lot at the beginning and end of the season. (In other words, I focus on the Spurs after Indiana exits...) Plus, you have the entire CHEST movement, which beaks up the monotony a bit. YAYYYY!!!!!
Bowen is my favorite player in the NBA, now that Reggie is gone. For the record, anyone who accuses Bowen of playing dirty or Manu of flopping must have never seen Miller play. Reggie was never "dirty," but he had quite a bag of tricks. My favorite move was the old "step on the guy's feet who is guarding you when you take a jump shot" move. I have never seen Bowen do anything like this.
My point is this: I don't talk basketball on the internet for a bunch of homer @#$%. I can listen to local talk radio for that garbage. To me the interaction with fans of the Pistons and Garnett is what makes this board so damn funny at times.
EDIT: This was supposed to be posted on the OTHER Kings Fan thread in response to "why post on another team's board." Sorry folks.
EDIT EDIT: I see what happened. THe threads got merged while I was posting. Sorry folks. Y'all are too fast for this hick from French Lick...

If there is anyone that can do that from 3Point range and consistently make the shots off of the rim then that guy would be THE MAN
You need to put your "sarcasm detection glasses" on.![]()
Huh...and just wound up sounding stupid instead? I'm a Spurs fan, and I would not call it "mysterious" or "sinister" if the shoe were on the other foot. I'd just think the guy was a damned good shot and very lucky. I say all the time when I see other players from other teams make fantastic shots against us..."Gee that was pretty!" and "Dang, he's good!" and "Man, that was nice!". Why do people have to be such assholes about stuff like this. It was a great (and purely lucky) shot...and one we may never see duplicated! That's all.
