Elm Creek is a security protected community (ala The Dominion). Unless you lived there or had friends or business in Elm Creek you'd have no access to it.
Anaqua Springs Ranch is basically the new Dominion.
Have any of you been out there? It's like 10 miles wesy of The Dominion.

Congratulations, you're an idiot.
Congratulations, you are also an idiot.
The city of San Antonio
The median income for a household in the city is $36,214, and the median income for a family is $41,331. Males have a median income of $30,061 versus $24,444 for females. The per capita income for the city is $17,487. 17.3% of the population and 14.0% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 24.3% of those under the age of 18 and 13.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
Still think $100,000 isn't a lot of money?
They could also spend some of that money on getting any remaining Katrina victims in San Antonio back to New Orleans.
I was surprised that this hadn't been posted yet.

"Invasion" is a loaded word
"Stone Oak residents fear SAHA invasion" was the headline atop a Page 1 story Wednesday in the San Antonio Express-News. The report, by E-N staffer Ron Wilson, accurately described a public hearing at Stone Oak Elementary School Tuesday in the upscale North Side neighborhood of Stone Oak.
As Wilson reported, residents objected to a plan by the San Antonio Housing Authority to buy two apartment complexes and set aside about 10 percent of their units for low-income elderly and disabled people.
Some people who spoke at the meeting warned of crime, declining property values and loss of revenues from the complexes being owned by SAHA, a government agency that is not subject to taxation.
It was one of those ugly displays that occur from time to time in this and many other cities and boils down to this: You can't blame the property owners who have worked hard to earn the material wealth they have and hope to keep; and you can't blame low-income people for wanting to improve their lot in life. It has happened here before and it will happen here again.
However, the Express-News' use of the term "invasion" only fanned the flames. It is not a good thing to be an invader or to be invaded. This is not an attack by an army or an infestation of varmints. "Invasion" is negative to both sides. It stirs the pot and is divisive. It is inflammatory. It should not have been used.
Finally, it is important to add this conclusion: The reporter, Ron Wilson, did not use "invasion" in the report he filed on the hearing. An editor later subs uted the explosive word, and it also made itself into the headline. Wilson's term was something tamer — and more accurate.
The report and headline were later amended in the MySA.com online account of the meeting. The online headline was changed to "Stone Oak residents upset over SAHA plan."
Those are the 2000 numbers. But yeah, 100,000 is a lot, esp for median household income.
First of all, do you have any more recent numbers? I'd be interested to see them. If I were a betting man, I'd say the median has risen quite a bit what with the expansion of the north side.
A bunch of lame-brain, hillbilly jerks are getting their panties in an uproar--and their fear is beased on sheer ignorance.
The people housed by SAHA include--guess what--military families, senior citizens, persons who are disabled.
Many of these people are way better than the uppercrustm, arrogant assholes that were shooting their mouths off at that meeting.
The same happened a few years ago when the SAM shelter was opening up across the rednecks living in Castle Hills. The same stupid ass arguments were made,
Get a life--and pull your heads out of your asses.
way to make a good argument, calling everyone rednecks that doesnt agree with you (because all white people with money are rednecks, of course)
I wonder how many of these Folks from Stone-Oak consider themselves good democrats? or for that matter those in this thread that are in favor of keeping them out?
I may not be the brightest person in the world, but people who live in upperclass places steal, rape, kill, and drink too much. Its proven.
Yeah, that's like saying all people in govt housing steal, rape, kill, and drink too much.
Hey dude, all these things you say, go to City Hall or one of those meetings and tell em what you think of "poor people" for all to see. Really express your opinion out loud.
Ill give you a question...which road would you rather walk down at 2am...Stone Oak Parkway or SW Military??
I've walked down SW Military in the middle of the night many times (many of those times because the buses stopped running). Or sometimes for filming.
Never had a problem. Why?
Please tell me you're not that stupid.
Do you think I really meant "why"? Tell me you're not that stupid.
Hey dude, you've said some messed up stuff on here.
Would you shut the up already. I'm tired of seeing you cry all over spurstalk.com
Reading through this thread.
Im amazed that some people equate low income with bad people.
I went to southside high school, and that is a low income school.
By god's blessings I have a very good income, but I choose to live south of town due to the area of land I get to have.
That being said, if the city forces something upon you like this.
I agree with SW, and don't think its right.
What he said!
