So now QB rating means something?
And that is a big difference between Cutler and Young. Even if his line doesn't hold up, Young won't just stand there and take a sack. He can buy more time for the offense.
IMO, that defense is underperforming at the moment. Not sure why, but they definitely should be playing better than they are, especially considering the 2 corners they have, they should be able to focus a lot more on the run. It's not their fault if the gameplanning has been horrible. Not to mention, Lamont Jordan had an unusually good day. That's not going to happen too often.
And of all people, you have no room to talk about not watching games.![]()
So now QB rating means something?
Clearly we are going to have to agree to disagree with all this .
Plus we should go back to just talking football instead of trying to out insult one another.
Gotta go, later fellas.
Actually, they are 10-6 since he took over, but thats still quite good, for such a young QB on a talent deprived offense.
And yea, VY has a 4th quarter QB rating of 128, and his 3rd down rating is around 90 as well.
no one said it didnt...
I'm using your own criteria. To me it does mean something, but not everything. For example, Roger Staubach had a career 83% QB rating, but he certainly was a much better QB, leader, winner, etc... than most other QBs with higher ratings.
no need to insult you. you do a good enough job of making yourself look bad.

Tony Romo = Brown Jesus (maybe Hispanic Jesus?)
lol, owned... again
Vince Young is much better than I believed he was. The dude is a freaking superstar! I still don't think he's all that smart, but that kid can play football.
It's really rather simple to me. I think that his defense gets overlooked time and time again, especially on this board. They should get just as much credit as he does.
His 128 rating is great in the 4th, but who keeps them in the game for the other 3 Qs when his rating is 69?
He looked better last night than he did in the first two games, IMO, but he still has a ways to go throwing the ball.

According to the Wonderlick Test, he's not even supposed to know what a football is.
what are you basing that on? since the first game his completion % is above 60%. Is he a perfect passer right now? No, but he's very accurate when he knows where to go with the ball. His weakness is reading defenses which should come with experience. To be successful passers QBs must be first and foremost accurate. For right now his passing skills are at about a C+ because of the strength of his arm and his accuracy. Because of everything else he brings to the table overall he is a solid B+ quarterback.
What am I basing it on?
He was only completing 33% of his passes between 11-20 yards in the 1st 2 games. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe that's the worst completion % in the league.

you mean the defense that was the worst in the NFL last season and lost their best player for the year? that defense?
That remains to be seen. Young doesn't have a history of getting hurts, and if you watch him, he knows how to avoid the brunt of a hit and roll with it, something other mobile QB's (vick, mcnabb, etc) have never really figured out.
That's not to say he won't get injured, just that he has a much better chance of staying healthy than the majority of his predecessors of that archetype.
Strictly on stats, they were one of the worst. But so was VY as a QB.
But they made quite a few game-changing plays, hey, just like VY. Second in the league with 8 defensive TDs. Bears had 9.
wrong.
statistically, VY was among the worst as a passer. Not as a quarterback.
Statistically, the ans D was among the worst in yards and points. Not as a scoring defense.
Happy?
you will go to the end of the earth to find a bob ucker stat. where did you get that hateVinceYoung.com.
it's a waste of time trying to argue the point with you. VY is completing over 60% of his passes, he has over an 80% passer rating, and he kills people with his feet. Continue the hate fest.
not really. your comparison still makes no sense.
the whole point of a defense is to prevent points from being put on the scoreboard by the opposition. they were 31 out of 32 in doing that. 8 defensive TD's in 16 games is great and all but they still failed miserably as a defense.
the whole point of a QB is to put points on the board and lead his team to wins. Find me all the other QB's who did better than 18 TD's in 13 starts with 8 wins and we'll see if VY was really one of the "worst" QB's last year.
The hate thing is overplayed and stupid.
Any NFL QB should to be able complete 60% of his passes when 80% of them are under 10 yards.
To be a better passer, he has to get better on the intermediate routes to sustain drives against the better Ds in the league. His accuracy just isn't there yet.
Is that hard to understand?
Jeff Fisher's a damn good coach.
He absolutely is. Although he WAS right on the verge of being fired until he gave the starting job to a certain really ty QB who can't ing throw. Now he's got a contract extension. Amazing how he did that in spite of that QB he's got who coincidentally was named the starter as the team improved miraculously and went 8-4 down the stretch.
