Tim...if I have time I will try to find one tomorrow...but for two years before he was finally traded he was telling ownership he wanted to be traded to New York...but they could never get a deal done...NY wouldn't put Marbury on the table and without him they could match salary but not talent...if you really want to check it out I am sure you can find some archive stuff somewhere...

CC is right...and not only that but he was firm about staying in the Eastern Conference as well.

It was well do ented at the time of the trade...

I still don't get the facination with Vince Carter....what, Manu gets worn down so we should get a player called half man, half the season(when he's not tanking it), instead?

Thats because NY showed some interest in getting Carter.
Had the spurs showed interest do you really believe he would turn down going to San Antonio and instead stay longer in Toronto?
    Use some common sense.

He wanted out of Toronto and was probalby willing to go anywheres else by the time he left.

This was an old yahoo news item that I pulled off another board...the yahoo link is broken.

    News
Raptors guard Vince Carter wants to be traded to an Eastern Conference team, and he'd prefer to be playing for the Knicks. A league source told the Toronto Globe & Mail that Carter would only return to the Raptors as a last resort. "He wants out and he needs to go," said the source. "He is very, very firm on that. He needs to go. They're supposed to be working on something right now. It might have to involve a third team, or they may have to acquire someone and pass him through." Knicks president Isiah Thomas is reportedly interested in making a deal and would "give up anyone on his roster outside Stephon [Marbury]."

ok...heres a link...not a very good on I admit but it does directly quote other semi credible sources...at the time there were a lot of other articles about it but I couldn't find any quickly..

    http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_9266.shtml

This summer trade rumours regarding Vince Carter have run rampant. There have been reports of him heading to Dallas, New Orleans and New York, with neither Carter nor Rob Bab stepping up to stop these rumours. Until last weekend. Last weekend Carter was back in Toronto for his annual All-Star Charity game and his comments on the situation were full of riddles and only added fuel to the fire. Earlier this week reports of a deal to send Carter to New Orleans surfaced and Bab was quick to end any speculation of Carter leaving town. At the time Bab said that it was immature of the media to report on deals without going to the source first and that he would be more than happy to answer any questions about Carter. It appears that American journalists failed to pick up on this. Today all three Toronto papers were quiet on the Carter situation, while the New York Daily News and New York Post broke a “story” that Carter’s agent Mark Steniberg has requested a trade to New York. “We did meet and asked them to look into trades," Mark Steinberg said in a telephone interview with the New York Daily News. “They know where we stand.” The New York Post had this quote from a source, "Vince still wants out. And he'd very much like to play for the Knicks. He needs a change and he's willing to play for Lenny Wilkens." That’s vague enough, and it can interpreted in two ways. One, that Carter is now okay with the situation in Toronto and is ready to play for the Raptors next season, or, two, that he still wants to play in New York. From what I have observed of the situation this past month, I would lean closer to the first option of Carter sticking in Toronto. If the Raptors were to deal Carter to Thomas I can’t see Bab backing down from his request of Stephon Marbury and Tim Thomas - a deal that Isiah Thomas wouldn’t pull the trigger on.

Carter has proved that he still is a top player in the league.
He was a big reason the Nets got into the playoffs. There is no denying that.

Of course they are not likely to get past Miami because Shaq is too strong in the middle and the Nets have nothing inside but the Nets got themselves a steal of a trade.

If they can address their problems at center and or pf in the off season they will be strong contenders next year.

So tell me...who had the higher scoring game this season?

And Manu's not even the main scoring option on his team.

Not only did Carter no show the season before the trade...he also didn't play in the Olympics last season....he should be plenty rested. That doesn't mean he's more durable now.

There is nothing there that says he would not want to play in San Antonio had the spurs made a deal or showed interest in getting him.

There's also nothing that said he would have...this may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone is dying to play for the Spurs or in San Antonio.

I can't find any articles right now but I know for certain he wanted to stay in the Eastern Conference. I remember thinking that pretty much proved what a total loser he really is...

He didn't want to jeopardize his precious All Star appearance by going up against Garnett and the like.

Rascal...give it up man...we had no chance of getting Carter unless we traded Duncan for him...don't talk to me about using common sense on this...look at the guys salary...WHO did we have under contract last summer we could have traded for Carter?

    Manu and Rose

    Or

    Bowen, Barry and Rose

During the season when the Nets traded for Carter.

Don't just sit back and say it couldn't have been done.
Had the spurs even attempted to make an offer?
Did they even have any interest, again nothing?

If they had an interest and made an offer that was turned down then at least they tried but everything points to the spurs like usual doing nothing when top players are on the trading block at bargain cost.

I've gotta prop rascal for this one. Carter's been a ing stud in Jersey. I was scared he was going to be Antonio McDyess in New York based on his last few seasons in Canada.
