According to 24/7, Texas has officially offered WR Marcus Johnson.
Johnson is definitely the more pure WR prospect. Kid had some sick numbers this year.
According to 24/7, Texas has officially offered WR Marcus Johnson.
Even better news on WR Marcus Johnson...per Hook 'Em 24/7, he's already been offered by the staff so this one is developing quickly. This offer supposedly has nothing to do with UT's recruitment of WR Dorial Green-Beckham. The staff wants WR talent on campus and they want it now.
My bad, Mex.
WR attrition #s ?? What do you think?? 2/3??
My guess is: Darius White, Desean Hales, and Bryant Jackson moving back to DB.
All good, youre the king. I like your updates better than mine anyway.
Looks like good guesses to me. White may never make his way into the rotation with the young guns coming in and he's clearly got some issues, Hales may take his diploma and move along, I like Jackson at DB a lot better than at WR and there could be some uncertainty with Harris. I don't think his foot is healing properly. Not at all saying he'll transfer, it's just something that's been brought up. The WR recruiting heating up lately speaks volumes about what the staff thinks of the current WRs aside from Shipley.
I much prefer you guys chiming in. There's times where I feel like I'm talking to myself.
I hope we find an answer at QB. Anybody know if Brewer is going to redshirt. If he isn't does that mean McCoy or Ash will transfer like Gilbert did?
I hate seeing all these talented recievers we have and are going to get but not have a QB who can get the ball to them, accurately and consistently.
A radio station in Topeka started this rumor. Only way this would happen is if Mack has health problems, because otherwise I doubt he's close to retiring.
Last week:
"I have been here 14 years and I plan on being here a long time.’’
Welcome to the thread, sir.
I think Brewer will be given a chance to win the job during the spring and fall (he is a Harsin recruit) and his redshirt status will depend on how he does and if someone else transfers out. If McCoy doesn't win the job next year and decides to leave, Brewer can't redshirt. It would be ideal if he could but that's under the assumption that Ash or McCoy establishes himself as "the man." Gilbert wasn't able to separate himself from the rest of the pack causing the QB depth chart to be shaky from the beginning of spring practice.
Is this from today? Or the same talk that's been going around for a few weeks?
It's from today, though the cosm is claiming this is the information they've been holding for the last few weeks.
WHAT? link?![]()
Chris Petersen's name is popping up a lot as lead replacement if true.

Remember those mystery recruits that Hook 'Em 24/7 has been sitting on for a few weeks? Well, the in-state, committed prospect was ATH Kendall Sanders. The out-of-state, committed recruit is TE Christo Kourtzidis of Orange, CA who is an FSU verbal. Talks have slowed there and he's not expected to visit UT at this point.

I'm too lazy to find a link, but if you remember, either barking carnival or recruitocosm had an article saying they have some information on mack's future but they will not be releasing it right now out of respect for the program. Now on twitter:
"Topeka radio reporting Mack to retire after Sat. That the news you held the Humidor back for?"
Cosm: "Sort of"
Carnival: "Not trying to stir you guys up but you know @Recruitocosm has sources. He's had some input that he sat on out of respect for Mack, team."
"Just got off the phone with @Recruitocosm. Potentially interesting days ahead."
BS in my opinion (unless it involves health reasons)
Consider me in the group that thinks Petersen is the prime candidate to replace Mack when he decides to hang 'em up. Sometimes I think UT hired Harsin not only because he's a great coach, but he knows Petersen's system inside and out. By the time Petersen arrives at UT, everything he's trying to achieve will have been implemented allowing for a smoother transition into his new job and continuity for the Texas program. Whatever happens I'm pretty sure Mack will hit a grand slam with his successor.
The timing seems off.
Well if Mack does retire I wish him the best and:
-Hopefully Texas can hold onto the incoming recruits.
-A replacement is found quickly if not already in place. Which will help with recruits.
-He coaches the Bowl Game.
-Also hope Texas can hang onto Harsin/Diaz. Another year changing coordinators would set the program back.
Like Shyne I have a gut feeling that it's true. Can't forget Texas recently had a HCIW in Muschamp. Texas and Mack Brown have known it's nearing the end for some time. Not winning the National Championship in 09 and last seasons debacle probably prolonged his career if anything.
TFloss, we may not have input (in my case, a lack of knowledge on recruiting to provide anything productive on this thread), but you definitely have a wide audience. Your updates are awesome.
It is said not often enough about your posts... Thank you!
hardly, you have a large following that appreciates your posts, i know several people that follow this thread that never post. i personally check all the time and wish i could post more - i just don't like to post a lot unless i have some meaningful contribution. and when i can contribute, you usually beat me to the punch.
Kirk Bohls tweeted about 30 minutes ago that Mike Sherman will be let go very soon. Sumlin, Houston's coach, will likely replace him.
Here comes Aggies decommitment season in 3...2...1...
There have been various reports about the past two years taking a toll on Mack so I wouldn't be completely shocked if he decided to walk away. If you watch all of the games like I do, you see a guy that looks old and tired at times no matter how much he tells the press he's motivated, having fun, etc. It simply has to come to an end at some point and just the way it goes.
I'm really not sure what to believe about his future, but I'm confident that Mack wouldn't make a retirement announcement after Baylor or before the team banquet. That would be insanely stupid from a public relations standpoint and Mack knows that as he's the ultimate people person. He's not going to do anything to burn bridges with his players, coaches, recruits, etc. He'll notify everyone when the time is right and in the correct setting when he makes a decision like that.
It's fun to watch all of this play out. Lots of reports that contradict each other concerning Sumlin, Smart, A&M and ASU. My only beef is with the A&M Board of Regents. Rumor going around that Sherman has been fired but he hasn't been notified. Cold-blooded way to do business if true.
